I fully admit to being slow on the latest technology. When DVDs first came out I wanted to cry. I have TONS of VHS movies and didn't want to start all over again. The same with CDs... What about you? Are you one of the first to buy the newest and greatest things or do you wait until you have no choice?

It was roughly a year, I remember. I wasn't too hip on it at first, but the prospect of not having to rewind and getting all those awesome extras sold me.

I JUST JUST JUST got a DVD player, infact the first time I watched a movie on DVD was, like a month ago. Seriously. I just never had the money or the want to get DVDs, especially in Australia, when I knew I was moving to America and you can't play them here because of region codes AND NTSC playback shit. Mothefuckers.

But I love DVDs. Ironic, isn't it?

Whitecrow, I'm with you on this. I got one after JakeD moved in and loved them. The extras are wonderful and the quality of the film is sooooo much better. Now when we watch one of the VHS movies it's like we're slumming it. :p

I still don't own a DVD player. But I do have a PS2, Computer, Laptop, and XBox, so I pretty much have it covered.

I own a total of 2 VHS cassettes. Of course, I'm 19, so by the time I got around to buying movies they were pretty much all in DVD's. Took me forever to convince my parents though, and then to teach them to use it!

You can get a region-free player if you look in the right nooks and crannies, and some DVD players are hackable via a factory code that you can enable with your remote....

I had about 200 VHS tapes when I decided to get up and buy a DVD player! I sold all my VHS tapes on ebay and started buying DVDs. I am up to 190 DVDs!! Not quite as long a list as Marcy, but close!! It took me about 2 years to get a DVD player though due to monetary difficulties.

When DVD's came out, I wasn't spending much time at home, so I waited a couple of years. Worked out good for me, 'cause I was able to get a really nice for cheap.

i never had the money for it...or rather chose to buy a dvd or vhs player over other things...when pepe and me moved in together a dvd/vhs player was very high up on the list of what we needed to buy...funny how priorities are diffrent for men and women :) but i do love it - and it have kept us entertaint when they only show footy and cricket on tv - blah!

My dad got me a dvd/vhs combo 2 years ago for Christmas. I love the thing. I own 5 DVDs - Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Underworld & Freddy vs. Jason.

I hate waiting through all of the FBI warnings and crap...can't fast forward certain parts. Also if you don't finish watching a movie sometimes it is hard to get back to the place you were if u shut it off.

I was telling my Mother how I watch DVDs on my computer and that I really liked the quality better than watching tapes on my VCR. So what does she give me for my B-Day. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy on tape.

I think it was more like 3 or 4 years before I finally got one. I already owned a VHS & had all kinds of movies I didn't watch any more on that, so didn't see any sense in getting one. I liked it, though.

I just bought another DVD player, as I hadn't used the last one I've had for about 7 months. I'd only used it once & went to watch a movie & the stupid thing didn't work. I wuz PISSED! Anyway- Wally World had one for $40 & it's now hooked up & ready to play.
