Tahoma for my stuff, Courier (New) for papers for school.

I actually like courier new, if it's suppose to be printed - as I've learned in school that those kind of fonts, with block types sticking out at the end of lines and similar, is easier to read in paper. I agree with Pos - on screen papers I like Tahoma, or sometimes TNR.

For school we usually always have to use Times New Roman, but I prefer Goudy Old Style when I'm writing something for myself

Ariel, I guess. I mean, unless I want a serif font, then it's Times all the way. Or if I want to be esoteric, Poor Richard is grouse. Then again - WINGDINGS!! WOOOO or, MATHEMATICAL SYMBOLS I, II & III!

Usually always end up with Times, since that is the font we had to use at uni... and after 7 years of uni its hard to remeber that there are other fonts :P

For the screen - Arial or another sans-serif family one.
For print - Times New Roman

I always use TNR or Arial, but the only font I actually like is Chiller.

alright, fonts where my life for like two years of school. It's sad when you can point out a font they used at a store. But my favorite font is Futura (created by crazy German students in the 1920's), it's all fun and round, and the other would have to be Goudy because it's just pretty, the curves and the a-line (man i need to get a life).

It depends. I tend to use Arial for most stuff, but that's probably because it's the default in the email editor. For other documents, I select a font depending on the situation at hand:
For code, I have to (at least if I don't want to go crazy) use a monospaced font, so that's almost always Courier New.
For headings in a document, I use a sans-serif font (like Arial), because it's easier to read large headline style writing in sans-serif.
For the body of a document, I use a serifed font (like Times Roman), because serifs help the eye to discern whole word shapes and it's easier to read large blocks of text when you use that kind of font.
A lot of people have switched to using sans-serif fonts everywhere, because they think it looks more modern. Which it does. But it really is harder to read large blocks of text with a sans-serif font - so you have to balance style versus functionality. Observe that almost all mainstream newspapers use a serifed font for the body text of their articles.

There was some study somewhere I read long ago that, in a nutshell, said serifed fonts were the best for print in terms of readability, and on a screen, a sans-serif (like Arial) was best.
Anyone know what the hell I'm talking about? Maybe a link, even?

Whitecrow, you imply that I care about the proper use of my font, which I don't.

I think you're right, although I don't have a link. There is a distinction between print and screen, mostly because print is so much higher resolution (the average screen is 100dpi or less, whereas print is typically 600dpi and up). Serifs really only work at high resolution, because at low-resolution they become too smeared-out and ugly to help the reader. Perhaps as display technology improves, eventually we'll have displays that look as good as high quality print and people will start using serfied fonts for body text there too.
I like the only good thing to come from Macintosh - Verdana. Don't know why, I just like it.

I mostly use Arial, about a size of 12 or 8 so it's not completely default, but one I like that was on an old computer of mine was Lucida Handwriting...it resembled my handwriting and I thought that was kinda cool....yeah, I'm a dork.
