We had to write a poem using a nasty ugly gross disease as a metaphor for something else. Hope you can tell what my metaphor is
WHEN YOU SEE
Leprosy can cause paralysis of the muscles which provide the blinking
mechanism that keeps the eyeball moist and clean.
When - the slippery puss-filled world never submits to that seductive sleep.
- the wickedly horny sunbeam never sets down upon an aching breath.
- your pulsing old mind will never let go of what it felt like to be true to exist.
You - feel a bleeding cornea that is all and the frozen flesh that you know all too well.
- feel an unblinking unwavering crusted eyeball that was once a world of its own.
- can’t let the feathered bilge slip through your tired and worn fingers like that.
See - how every which way she sobs through the coffee mugs each morning.
- how his damaged shell of a son that was cracked by roaches that slithered away.
- the mushroom cloud of an unborn life will billow even over your high up head.
