SALT LAKE CITY (Reuters) - Crushed cockroaches in diet coke -- that's what Australian aerial freestylist Jacqui Cooper says she drank to recover from a serious back injury.
"It wrecks your stomach inside but it fixed my back," she was quoted as saying on the Salt Lake City Games Web site.

Cooper, one of the favorites for the women's Olympic gold, said the potion helped draw out "bad" blood from her injury. She was doing push-ups within three weeks of fracturing her vertebra.

Cooper, a triple World Cup champion, is expected to try a rare triple jump in the competition on February 18.

I remember when a diet fad came out where women would actually inject Cow urine into their veins. This is what I call 'desparation'. The thought of wanting to try ANYTHING to be cured is terrifying. It's also a shame that some people let their healths go to this point.

Anyone else hear of anything or try anything offbeat for a 'quick cure'? What are your opinions on 'Alternative' medical treatment?

I remember my baby sister buying something out of a magazine once. She was about 13 and concerned about her figure. I came home early and heard the vaccuum in her room. I popped my head in to tell her to do mine dropped my jaw. There Piglet {I wonder why she was so worried} was, with this plastic pants attached to the vaccuum. It was supposed to sweat and suck the pounds away. I never let her live that down.

The funny thing is... Even though she was a kid, there had to be enough grown folk using it to make it sell.

Whenever I hear those commercials about how the pounds 'just melt away' as your sleeping I want to say, "Would you want to wake up in that bed? Yuck!
