"Evan"

My son my life,
I hold tight,
Not to let go,
Only when he is grown,
That will be a sad day,
Soon he will not stay,
Will go into the world,
Learn his own way,
Dad is near,
Will he come to me in fear,
A scary place,
Everyone with a different face,
I taught him well,
Stand his ground and not to swell,
Believe in yourself,
Respect your elders,
Draw on their lives,
Learn to diversify,
Make others feel good,
Inturn you feel understood,
Our life is a simple one,
I go to the ocean to think and dream,
Write poetry until the days end,
What will be his way,
To relive pain forgive, and play,
I must say I'm excited for him,
He has time to think for he is only six.

It's good to see a parent taking an active role in their child's life, Jelly Bean. I wish more parents did. I like the poem, too!:D

Thank guys, it's funny I'm dating again, I have been divorced legally two years now, and what a big turn off a hottie is when she doesn't take care of her kid right. My X and I are still great friends hold our son's interest #1.

I think Jake and aussie have really hit the nail on the head here. I can pick up a news paper any day of the week and find a negative story on parenting but its so nice to see te positive side of things from time to time. Congratulations and well done to both you and your ex Jelly Bean. If more parents loved their children like you and your ex this world would be almost fit for human habitition

I agree, ozblonde... When i was in Sweden I saw men walking around with the children, sans mom. My friend told me that the father also takes time off when the baby is born to help the mother.

I saw a father kneel down and help his child blow their nose and I thought how odd it looked to be so natural. Then it dawned on me how I thought this looked 'out of place'. We learn so much from each other. I wish more fathers would be as 'maternal' as the mothers. When the mother isn't, at least the child will still have one parent to look to.
