View Full Version : Hot job-on-job action!
Just out of curiosity, what's the job market like in your neck of the woods?
I got laid off of my job a few weeks ago, and still haven't found much of anything. It's frustrating, but there's not much I can do about it aside from apply, apply, apply and cross my fingers.
Tell me about a job you had that you couldn't stand, and why...

This is my first job...so, uh....
I'm not sure how the job market is here...I've never heard it was bad or good.

Actually, depending on the field, Austin ain't half bad for the gettin' and keepin' of work.
Course, I work in a prison, and there ain't no shortage of openings.

Welcome homie, I'm just up the road in Killeen.
Word. I'm an East Texas transplant myself...and they have Shiner Bock here in LA too...I was stoked to see that. I'm easily amused, apparently. :P

Hey Jake, howz about shippin' out a double double, fries and a strawberry shake? Pleeeeeeze!!!!! I'll trade sum catfish for it!
Nah...no catfish....a Double Bacon and Cheese Whataburger Combo.
Why don't we just trade a single restaurant? The franchise won't miss it... :D

If ya find yourself in the high desert, such as Apple Valley, check out Lotta Burger. It's real similar except Lotta Burger can make you just about any flavor milkshake you could possibly want. My favorite is cherry-banana-peach!
Job market sucks here in my area. As a matter of fact, Tompkins County (the county my college is in) has the highest # of people with college degrees in the US compared to job opening. No jobs here at all.
In my experince jobs are in abundance when you are already working and impossible to find when you are not. Additionally all we hear from our Governments is that unemployment is falling and new jobs are being created by the day, yet the job centres are full, with 1000+ people applying for every job.
Again in my experience jobs come from within your own network(colleagues/friends) and therefore my best suggestion is to call up everyone you know and find out if the company they are working for may employ you.
Good luck, as unemployed really kills ones self esteem.

Job market SUCKS here, too, unless you want to work at one of those burger places.
Some trivia? The government doesn't count people that have used up their unemployment & are still unemployed, but they DO count in the military members. It's all a numbers game the politicians play to make themselves look good. Nice, huh?
Good luck, as unemployed really kills ones self esteem.
Luckily JakeD still has to go through college, so any job he gets is just to help him through. There used to be a member here who was laid off from his job after years of service. It really killed his self esteem.
