View Full Version : Drive-Up Question
This is probably going to sound weird, and possibly no one else but me has ever noticed this, but... here goes.
Have you ever noticed how some people, when they pull up to a drive-up window (fast food, bank, etc.) open their door instead of rolling down the window and reaching through it? Now, I've seen people do that a lot, BUT the only people I've seen do it are black people. Does anybody know of any significance to that or reasoning behind it?
It gets me so curious every time I see it.

Dunno. I've seen a lot of white people do it too, and I've done it before myself because the window didn't work. Some people are also asinine enough to worry about wearing out the window mechanism...I had a friend who was like that. I always yelled at him "DUDE, IT'S A FUCKING WINDOW AND THEY WERE MEANT TO BE ROLLED DOWN. THAT'S WHAT THE HANDLE/BUTTON'S THERE FOR."

I do it because I drive a pickup truck w/big tires & have short arms (to go with my short body!) & can't reach the envelope/money real well. (also- I'm not black. Tan, but not black.) (Black sheep of the family count??)

Sometimes you just aren't close enough to the vendor and you need that extra length that opening a door can give you. This has happened to me a few times and I feel like an idiot for not driving straight!
WC and Bassmama - Yes, I have done those before, but these are apparently for different reasons. Oh well. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any significance or if there was one or if I'm just too bored in drive-through lines.
Okay, let me help in this one. I am good at wording this just right as to piss everyone off. So here is my best attempt. I can't speak for any particular race, creed or religion. However, detailed or custom vehicles sometimes have tint on the windows. It is not good to roll them up and down as it will scratch. Now a just cleaned window will get streaks when rolled down after washing. These are good reasons. I think that I did that without pissing anyone off, too. I am happy now.
Ice Man - That was a always a thought with me, but most of the vehicles I've seen, well, let's just say I'm sure that wasn't a concern for them! :D
Okay then, I am a loss for explanations other than their too short to reach the window, to large to reach through the window or not smart enough to know that the glass will retract down manually or by the use of a button. But those are really mean explanations..........so we shouldn't say stuff like that.
their window probably doesnt work....
Maybe some of the time.
I've seen a lot of them with the window rolled DOWN yet they still open the door and don't reach through the open window. *shrugs*
I walked through a drive-through once.
They were not amused.
lols well as long as they keep the line moving ...
