Well once again my crew and I have patrol duty. My ship the, Missile Cruiser Bong-Buddy, has been teamed up with the Battleship Zerhon, the ECM Cruiser Black Bart, and a wing of Interceptors. As we began the patrol of the Everyshore constellation, it seemed like it was going be a quite flight with maybe a minor problem from the Serpentis Pirates. We jumped through the gate to Luremblumpes after a signal from the lead interceptor that it was all clear. This is when it got interesting.
Seems the Interceptor pilots had not noticed the Hidden Agenda Corp, HiD, Battleships and Cruisers jumping in from the other side of the system. As the flight group emerged from hyperspace we where suddenly hit with the radio traffic to not jump, it was too late we where in system and too far from the gate from a quick getaway. The Squad commander then ordered all ships to attack. The Black Bart moved off and began propulsion and targeting jamming hoping to prevent them from gaining a lock. The Zehron was under assault from one Battleship, a support cruiser and a wing of Interceptors. The Zehron was holding her own, but was not going get away with 3 Interceptor warp scrambling her, this was a fight to the finish. Our Interceptors turned to engage their electronics support ship hopefully giving us a chance. The Bong-Buddy was now being targeted by 3 frigates.
Seeing as we where in range of the ECM cruiser I requested suppression of targeting and moved to intercept the frigates. The Zehron had taken massive shield damage but had destroyed the wing of Interceptors; she was now concentrating fire on the HiD ECM cruiser. She had actually moved out of range of the HiD Battleship as was trying to recover part of her shields. The squadron was down to a single interceptor that had just warp and propulsion scrambled the HiD ECM cruiser when he was hit by several shots fired from the Battleship. The crew of the Black Bart reported a POD seen warping away. The Bong-Buddy was rocked by several light missile strikes to her port quarter, this prompted a reload of the launchers to Friend or Foe Missiles to get around the target loss and close proximity of the attacking frigates. All launchers started deploying missiles immediately. One of the HiD frigates was hit simultaneously by 2 heavy FoF missiles and exploded; a second one caught the brunt of another missile and retreat with serious armor damage. The third frigate was off our scopes. That is when we noticed the Zehron taking damage from the HiD Battleship that had gotten into range. The Black Bart was ordered to assist the Zehron but it was hit by the Battleships missiles and blaster fire from the missing frigate. When the Zehron saw this we where ordered to assist the Black Bart and to escape while the Zehron covered our retreat. The HiD Frigate was targeted and destroy with a single volley, we moved the Bong-Buddy in between the Black Bart and the HiD Battleship hoping to draw some of its fire. The Black Bart was hurt but not out. Her crew fought and got her into position to warp away, when the last HiD Frigate showed back up with two more cruisers and another Battleship.
As the Black Bart warped out of the vicinity, the Zehron moved to intercept the Battleships and their escorts. We were ordered to immediately retreat and help get the Black Bart home. Having taken enough hits to deplete our shields, I reluctantly ordered the retreat and we powered up the warp drive. The last we saw of the Zehron was her firing cruise missiles at one battleship and heading directly towards a cruiser with all guns firing.
We found the Black Bart 10 minutes later crippled and hiding near a moon of the fourth planet in the system. We transferred equipment and personnel to her to help with repairs with the Bong-Buddy standing guard in case our little hiding spot was discovered. A couple hours later and the Black Bart was able to continue back to home base. We escorted her to the gate and immediately sent word of the battle to the command center. We were then reinforced with 2 battleships, 3 cruisers, and 2 wings of interceptors. I lead the squadron back to the spot of the original attack but all we found was debris and a few bodies to bury. We lost many a good people in that ambush.
