People who lie about crimes should be punished. Not just a fine, either. Lock their asses away in an institute and make them prove they're not going to do it again. That doesn't mean going up the the judge and saying, "I'm really, really, really, really, really sorry."

Just days after claiming to having been the victim of a cruel anti-Semitic attack that stunned France, a young mother confessed she fabricated the story, authorities said Tuesday.

This chick caused public outrage. She made people wary of Africans. She fed into the racism and wasted the police's time. As a Jew I am offended by her actions. She did this because she figured it was an easy lie. Everyone hates Jews, right? Fuck you. Contrary to her small mind's belief we get along just fine with people. She fed into the hate. Ugh. I fucking hate this sort of crap, particularly when it's done by Jews. I am Israeli, and people THERE will ostracize assholes who pull this sort of shit! Did you hear about the Indian couple. They were brother and sister who had explored with one another as children. They were about to be married and felt ashamed. They decided to kill themselves. He helped her hang herself and then couldn't go through with it when it was his turn.

I would very much like to read more on this one. If you can find the article, I would appreciate it. I tried alittle yesterday to no avail.

OK- I agree with you in one way- she was a fucking idiot & should be punished- but think about why she might have done it: think she was maybe really mentally sick? When someone tells stories that are partly or totally lies ESPECIALLY pointing out a different race or religion as the perpetrator, then confesses days later that the story was a lie, that person is a sick puppy- sick, confused, depressed, and an attention hound. She needs EXTREME help, and if she confessed to her lie voluntarily, I think there is hope of changing her: not through being as bad or cruel as her lie & thus proving to her that she was right, but through kindness- maybe requiring her to live & work in a mostly Jewish hospital or school.

Example: (Forgive me- I can't remember his name) a southern politician from the 1960s that was a 'good old boy' & fought against integration, equality for blacks, & spoke constantly about the 'nig----' & seperatism & violence against them. Then he was shot & paralized, and when he came home from the hospital, he was cared for by a black woman that treated him with respect & love and EDUCATED him. When he was able to go back to work (I believe as governor) he was a changed man- NOT because of being treated like the asshole moron he was, but because this wise black woman taught him that ALL people have feelings & showed him the errors of his ways.

Another example: A 19 year old girl I knew had caught her husband cheating on her, he'd treated her like crap- including trying to pressure her into giving up their baby for adoption- and constantly put her down & hurting her & moved out on her & in with 2 prostitutes about a block away from where she was living and paraded them up & down in front of her daily. She was so screwed up that she went to the police & told them that he had beaten on her & her child. 3 days later, she went to the court & confessed to the judge that she had lied because she was so angry & confused, but that the charges had to be dropped because they were false. She got a STERN lecture from the judge & a crowd of people staring at her, and left the court mortified & never did it again. If you haven't guessed, that was me when I lived in downtown Albany. My point is that people do things like that because they're fucked up- but it takes some backbone to confess their fuckup, especially publicly. There's hope for her to learn differently.

Psychoanalysts are going to try to prove for the defence lawyer that's she's crazy, in order that she doesn't need to pay a 7000 Euro fine. Apparently she did it to get out of paying for a car. Now she may get six months in jail.
