Hi gang. I just wanted to remind people that while I want the arcade to be used, I also want it to be used by people who are active members in the forum. I've heard of a couple of sites that had people sign up just for the games, and that's not cool. Besides the bandwidth, I just would rather it be a friendly game atmosphere.
There is a hack that makes it so you cant play the games until you post a certain amount of times. I'm not going to put it up, but the option is there if we get people who show up, play and then take off. At this point, it's not happening.
Please give me your opinions on this.
I think it's a good thing. I know right now there's a couple of people in the arcade who have high scores that I have no idea who they are. If this were my site, I'd all ready have the hack in place, but that's just me.
Keep up the good work Diva. I know how much time and money you've put into this site. You're doing a great job. *hugs*
I am mixed on it. Newer "GOOD" members have a disadvantage and yet the "BAD" new members won't be stirring things up. It's ultimately up to you, though. It's a good idea but, as everything else has it's pros and cons. I personally don't want to be knocked off the champion's chair by anyone especially a newbie. LOL
I think it sounds like a good idea, Diva, if you find it becoming necessary. There are lots of folks out there looking for a place to play "free games" on the 'net. I'm with Ice Man, too. I don't want some newbie knocking me off MY throne just cuz they wanted to play free games! :D
I don't know about you guys, but I'm only here for the games, baby.

You already know what I think, so I won't repeat it except to say, the hack would be a good idea - not to stop people from playing but to encourage them to post? Is there a way to make more games available as they post? Say the more you post, the more arcade games you can play? hmmm don't know about my own ideas.
I ended up putting it in. It's not bad and it's only two posts.... although I hope you find more to post on. :)
I think that's a good idea. The forum should be what brings you here, and the games just makes you stay. :D

Well, I'm lonely out here on the forum boards by myself :*( so if you guys would hurry up & get bored with the games, I would appreciate it! :rolleyes:
Guess I'll go watch Cops- maybe I'll check out the games tomorrow. 'sposed to be another steamer of a day, so will probably be doing stuff inside anyway.

Yeh, because after a while, people are going to get scores that are unattainable and people will stop playing them all together. Maybe just blanket reset them every month or so. Just to keep the leaderboards moving, so ALL nct'ers can have the glory of a trophy, not just some. *cough* mek *cough*

I have dialup- I just wish I could get them to load. It says 'done' & there's nothing on the screen. Bummer.
I have dial-up, too, and they load fine for me. It takes a little bit to get the actualy game to load, but it does load. BM, just a little fyi, the page will finish loading before the game does, so that might be what the "done" you see means.
And I believe the posts means you have to post 2-3 times a day, not overall posts.

I just hate to see some of the high scores wiped out because they're really hard to get!

Well... to prove that they (or you) are the Arcade King, then it should be no hassle getting those scores again and again...(and not just be lucky)

WC - Yeah, like I told Diva, I understand the idea. It's just sometimes a high score is a combination of skill AND good luck. ;) In the end, it's just silly online games for fun, so it really doesn't matter to me. The more I've thought of the idea, the more I like it. That way, I might be able to get the high score on Virus 2 again. As it stands now, I don't think I'll ever beat Diva's score! :D
www.roflcopter.com has been spreading over the net, but I think it might make a decent arcade game (I dont know how the scoring works) ...

I wanted to go into the Arcade and have a go at cracking someone else's record and I am getting the message that I haven't made 2 posts in the last 24hrs!? Come on folks, this is plain stupid. Why don't you connect access to the arcade based on the total number of posts? I have >2000 posts myself, do I really have to force myself to make 2 posts just to get into the arcade? I think you are gonna get alot of 'A' and 'B' posts this way....

I dont think it's stupid at all. I'd rather people come here to post than just to play. Seriously, Sys.... two posts is not that much. I dont appreciate the second post you did either. There are many threads that you could have contributed on and kept alive. Instead you decided to do that. From now on those posts will be deleted.
Many people rack up posts and leave. It's not how many posts that you have, but what you contribute. I'd rather have someone who wants to give a quality post than a 'LOL' one for points. This board is not about status... and you know that.
Diva, that's what I always thought as well, that NCT is not about status. But why should I compelled to making two posts a day if I don't want to? You know I don't come here just to play and I cannot imagine most of the regulars would just come for the games. But in the end I decide where and when I will post.

Being a newbie,i thought the idea of having to post twice before playing in the arcade was kinda sucky...But then i realized-it's just 2 posts-and it also helps further with other members getting to know who and what i'm about.I'm not gonna get intimate and tell you my bra size,but i might let you in on the fact that i take 15 minute poops.

Really, is it so much to ask? NCT is about the community here, the arcades are a boon. An additional fun thing to do when you come to the forum. However Diva made the decision that she wanted only ACTIVE members to use it. She wanted those members who are an ACTIVE part of the community to have a chance to win a pretty little trophy, rather than sit about wondering who the hell these people are in the arcade.
Another thing, I think anyone who makes A/B posts as you do above should be treated just as though they had violated the spam rule [See: 2. Post whore spamming. (http://www.nochicktrix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4828)] (a rule you as a 2000+ posting member should damn well know about). That's of course just my opinion, but as usual my opinions are great and you could do no better than to hold them close to your heart.

You see,it all works out everybody.Thank you so much. This is one of the main reasons I wanted the two post minimum. I want to get to know people and chat with them in the forums. The only way to do this is to make the arcade secondary. I dont want to separate 'newbies' from 'old timers', so the rule goes for everyone.

Sys: I'm not telling you when to post. But I put a rule in place for everyone that I thought was a fair trade off to use the arcade. So far the feedback has been positive as are the results. *points to mydestroyer and RoweBaught's posts. ;)
I only made the A/B posts to make a point. I will not be forced into posting unless I want to. If an active member is now being defined as making at least 2 posts a day, then I guess some days I will be one and some days I will not. Which I find totally ridiculous. Reminds me of 'good old' Biff. Remember him? A daily post count of 24 but how many of those were actually contributing to the forum? :rolleyes:

If an active member is now being defined as making at least 2 posts a day, then I guess some days I will be one and some days I will not. Sys, the forum and the arcade are two separate things. I dont expect people to post twice a day to be considered an active member. This is only a guideline (and a very fair one) to make sure that people who use the arcade are active (meaning posting in the forums) and not just wasting bandwith.
I am always open to peoples' opinions and try to be fair. I appreciate your suggestion and have given it great thought. I decided that the rule is fair and will stay in place at this time.

Yes, well far be it from me to force my opinions on you. In reality they were only posted because I was vetoed on my suggestion to post a block of cheese with the catchy caption "complimentary snack with your beverage". :D

Dedicated servers are NOT cheap (anywhere from $200 to $600 a MONTH!). If she's gonna make a rule, I'm gonna abide by it whether i agree with it or not. (And yes, we have butted heads on some things in the past.) This is such a non-issue, it's not even funny.

I am so with you on this. Even if I *DO* support the idea whole-heartedly - it really is a non-issue. Thanks for speaking the truth, Boozer.
