At 2AM I was awakened from a peaceful slumber by police sirens. No biggie... until they stopped in front of my home. I opened one eye to see my room flashing blue and red from their lights. Suddenly a cop yells, "Put your hands above your head. Good, now throw the keys out of the window and stick your arms out of the window. Get em out now!" I peeked out the window and saw 6 cop cars blocking off my street and a lane of traffic. Each car had two police officers, guns drawn. These dudes weren't going anywhere.
I woke JakeD up to have him watch. He told me to get away from the window... but all I could think was, "Please don't shoot my car." I finally decided to move my nekked self back a little. One by one, the called the 5 people (4 guys, 1 chick) to get out and lay face down in the middle of the street. That's where I'd have gotten my ass shot. No way in hell would I lay down in the middle of that oily, road kill resting place. As they yanked them up we could see their faces. They looked like a bunch of gang bangers who had gone through this before. Even the chick gave them attitude. Finally they hauled their degenerate asses off and towed the car away. I love LA. Always something to do... or at least write about.
