My Mind is a Trap

I actually have something more recent to post!

My mind is a trap.
My prey is myself.
My thoughts are snares,
my dreams, iron jaws.

They keep me locked away
inside my little box,
railing at the walls,
screaming at my heart,
fully knowing I am my own captor.

I plot my escape.

It never comes, but it's always out there,
taunting - dangling itself before my soul,
luring me forward one small step at a time
then shoving me back again.

My mind is a trap.
My prey is myself.

Wow, that is powerful. Not "pretty" in any sense, but cold and scary and rather... well, it gives a feeling of inevitability.

Yeah, I'm ok. That's not passing sentiment; it's pretty much constant existence for me, but I'm ok. ;)

Enty, that was poweful and hungry. I say hungry because it brings to mind a wolf. I don't know why, but it does. And I like poetry that brings up imagry.
