View Full Version : Vrooom! Vrooom!
While looking at some cars I realized you have to weight speed for comfort. This is not to say that a comfortable car is slow, but power cars tend to have less creature comforts. Which would you prefer to own?
Slow and comfy=me!
I am not a huge fan of fast cars at all. Thing is, "fast" as far as sports cars is not so much about top speed as it is about acceleration and handling: huge heavy behemoths can go FAST, but they take a while to get there (momentum=speed x mass), and don't handle as well (same story, momentum). I don't mind driving those, though--they are also far safer than sports cars, and since I now have a sweetie, I have to look out for both of ours' safety.
Personal preference for a car--I am not into burning rubber, but I do like driving and going places, so therefore I would love to drive a medium-sized Volvo--something safe, ultra-comfortable, with enough space for luggage and at least 4-5 seats (I do NOT like tiny cars!), and that will get me where I want to go at a reasonable pace.

I'm the opposite, I love small two seater cars with enough space for my and my girlfriend (but since I'm single at the moment friends).
I've noticed a difference with the car between when I drive it by myself and when other people are in it. Being only sixty kilos and the car being 1200 kilos when I'm in the car it's hardly any wheight. It's great to have a car that looks nice rather than the plane old ugly people movers.
I do like people movers but they're too expensive to run compared to small cars, which when you're as light as me are quite cheap to run.
Best advantage is of course the open top, feeling fresh air as you drive rather than the claustrophobic roof...
then again maybe an open top mini could be interesting, although not as nice looking.

I love going fast....and i love sports cars....all they need is ac and heat and a cd player and im set to go....i dont need all the 'heated butt massaging super comfort' details.....
....i also hate the fact that ppl buy luxury car SUVs.....if your gonna get a luxury car get a bloody car...if you want the SUV get a jeep or a subaru or even just an economy brand....if you want the expensive SUVs then go with a land rover....if you just want a show-off car then get a car and dont just hop on the SUV bandwagon by buying a luxury SUV.....like youd really go off-roading in a lexus or a bmw.......

Yep, that's what I like. Heated butt and fancy sunroof and ... and ... and all of it! :D

I'm with you on that 100%.
I have a friend with a Nissan Xterra (medium-size truck-SUV thing) that he does use quite a bit for off-roading and pulling his boat when he goes boating in Kentucky. He says he can't count the times he'd had to pull SUV's 2x the size of his out of the mud because they got stuck (Ford Exhibition, Ford Perversion, all those tanks) and couldn't get out on their own. SUV's that really aren't irritate me--they are useless and they use too much gasoline. Crap for-show cars, that's all they are. "Parking lot toys" as my off-roader friend calls them.

I prefer something small car that can accelerate when I want it to. It HAS to have 4 doors, and a minimum of AC, Casset player, and it being a manual trans. The next car that I'll buy will probably be a Subary. Either an Impreza or WRX sports wagon.
I just love the fact my USA boss is buyin me a viper for work :D

one of my friends parents has a lexus 'SUV' and everyone is like....ooo a lexus....and im like....its pretty but it doesnt serve its purpose....
...if you want a show-off car then get the car...if you want the room then get a van....if you want both then screw off
.....the best cars are the little ones that look innocent but then go fast.....
....i want a mini

I don't understand fast cars, and I don't think I ever will. What's the point - you can only go as fast (legally) as the speed limit, and then what? Whoo-hoo burn petrol? Whattya get? You're the first one to get to the speed limit? Yay-ness. It's all compensation for a small penis, isn't it?
Slow, steady, comfortable and easy. Driving should be a pleasure, not a race.

yeah...hummers are good for driving unless you are actually like going in harsh terrain.....not that ive ever driven one but yeah
Twitch, what are you on? Hummers are great for rough terrain, that IS why military uses them--both in USA and in Israel (the real army, not the toy soldiers they have elsewhere). Why one would drive it in the CITY (it's a gasoline guzzler!) I have NO idea, however.
