I've recently been reminded of one of the photographers I was a big fan of at college. Check out the photography portfolios of Jan Saudek (http://www.saudek.com/).

Are you referring to Sarah Saudek's work Diva? Her work is talented also. Jan Saudek, I think, is male. The J in his name is pronounced as a y. Jan is a synonym for John.
Great pieces! The early work of Jan's definately shows how the old world meets the new. I bet the piece titled Stalingrad will be one of Amaurote's favs.

A easy mistake, and one I used to make before I met a whole bunch of german blokes called Jan.

The Stalingrad photo is indeed very impressive, as is most of his work. I have to admit that I'm not a terribly visual person; I'm just not blessed with an abiding love of the plastic arts, or an eye like Usantic and Hollow - the only artists I've ever consistently admired are James Ensor and, to a much lesser extent, Pablo Picasso. Ensor is genuinely astonishing, and I have nothing but admiration for him: in fact, it's annoyingly difficult to obtain Ensor prints from retailers in my experience. For the remainder, I tend to admire political work - and that usually for its historical context.

What do you enjoy, Am? Besides the tops of churches, that is. What is your passion?
