But who are you, mysterious quoter, where are you from, and are all these remarkable quotes to be delivered gratis, or do we have to pay you proforma?
Actually, my favourite was the late President de Gaulle's wife's answer to the question, "What do you most want for the New Year?"
Her response, in fractured English, was "A penis." Everyone was silent for a moment. The President then whispered into her ear, and then clarified:
"She means happiness".....

reminds me of one that went like this:
A radio DJ phone's the British ambassador in a remothe part of the world and asks him what he would like for Christmas.
The ambassador ponders for a while and says he really can't think of anything.
So the DJ push's him saying that there must be something he'd really like at that time of year!
The Ambassador thinks and thinks and says he'd just like some slippers and a pipe!
The DJ thanks him and tells his listners;
" We called all the major dignitries in the land and asked them what they wanted for Christmas,
The French Ambassador said he would like world peace,
The Russian Ambassador said he'd like to eradicate world poverty, and the British Ambassador just wanted a pipe and a pair of slippers!

Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.
