View Full Version : How..... Personal
I received the latest form letter from my friend who moved away. I usually write each person separately. Would you rather receive a short but personally written letter, or a form letter?
Short and personal is always better lang a long, drawn out form letter any day.

I don't really mind the long form letter IF there's a personal note at the end.

I prefer the short personal letters. Sending an e.mail to 60 people is easy. Long letters are too impersonal.
Short personalized email is better (I may check my mail once a week). As for a long form letter, isn't that what websites are for? :)

All I would really care about would be a little card that had the words, "I'm still alive."

Impersonal anything drives me crazy, why bother doing it at all then. It takes me forever to write Christmas cards because I must put a personal note on every card. When I get the christmas cards where the name is engraved, or a person just signs their name -- I figger what's the point - it's like they are sending a card to me because they have to -- not because they want to.

I don't necessarily agree with that, depends on the context of the message and whether you live thousands of kilometers from the sender or not and the amount of time you have available.

If it's something important like keeping in touch with people you consider friends -- then you make the time. Otherwise it's about as exciting as a card to remind me it's time for my annual visit to the doctor.

Hehehe. You know, I used to think they were so 'thoughtful' to send me a personal reminder. Yeah, I'm a dork.
I think it just depends on how I'm feeling that day!

How tacky is it to send Christmas cards after Christmas? I wrote my Christmas cards weeks ago but I never had time to go by the post office to buy stamps. Jennifer made it so clear when we were going to "Gran Grans" funeral that I forgot to send them. She was bored sitting in to the back seat of my "Hummer""hehe" and said "You forgot to send these cards" I told her whats so bad in sending them late????
* Redallnite thinks it is tacky to send them late.... Is it tacky???

Technically the Christmas season doesnt end until Epiphanny - and I know I didn't spell that right -- nothing wrong with sending Christmas cards in January - -breaks up the monotony of the bills with something festive. (I send Happy Ground Hog Day cards for that very reason :)
