Simple question... In a public place do you enjoy hearing holiday tunes?

Of course. Sometimes, with the hustle and bustle of all the running around and running into people or being run into, it's nice to just sit down, relax, and listen to the Christmas carols.

I had to go with no. Christmas songs set my nerves on edge but that's only because Christmas was a pretty bad time for me as a kid (long story).

NO!!!! NO NO NO!!!!!
I work in a restaurant, and all I hear for five-seven hours a day are various renditions of them. I wanted to kill the singer of a yodeling version of Jingle Bells.

So, naturally, my answer's no. If I hear the Jackson Five singing "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" one more time, I'm gonna off somebody.

Too many years spent in retail with canned christmas music makes a person hate hate hate christmas music (unless it's luciano pavarotti singing O Holy Night) and hate christmas even more.

I don't mind Christmas music, and sometimes like it. But I don't want it to start before Halloween like it did this year; and I do think that people should actually follow through with calling them, "The Holidays" by actually playing music by other denominations other then our totally buff saviour dude.

I like Christmas music, only on the basis that, like caufield so brilliantly pointed out, that it isn't played before HALLOWEEN! I think people should start playing the Christmas music after Thanksgiving, because most people are putting up their Christmas trees the day after (unless they're joining the insanity called "Day after Thanksgiving Sales"...) :whome:

Live music is good. Recorded music heard over and over in a store is bad. I like hearing holiday music as I walk through a holiday scene. I do not like hearing it walking through CVS.

Where are you where they start playing holiday music before Halloween? I was just playing it myself but I didn't hear it anywhere else before then?

I play holiday music during the summer sometimes...

But only when I've closed the blinds, locked the doors and secreted myself away to my secret basement music mixer place.

I also have a How The Grinch Stole Christmas t-shirt I ONLY wear during the summer. Oye.

whitecrow's gf - "I HATE xmas music. I mean what's so special about xmas?"
whitecrow - "ahh...the whole 'jesus' thing"
wcgf - "well there's no songs about march 3rd, is there?"
wc - "well.. no... I can't imagine any"
wcgf - "exactly"
wc - "you're going straight to hell, you know that?'
* whitecrow starts singing "we wish you a happy march 3rd"
wcgf - "after you, dear"

My favorite Christmas album of all time is Ronnie Milsap Christmas. It holds a lot of good memories from growing up. I got a Nerf ping pong set one year for Christmas, and every year after that, the day after Thanksgiving, my brother and I would play Nerf ping pong and listen to that cassette tape. It's one of those memories that I wish I could go back and revisit all the time. It was just such a special memory to me.
