I would tell her that I don't blame her for her choices, actions and non-acknowledgement that led to the abuses that my mom and her siblings suffered and the resulting cycle of dyfunctionality in my family. I would tell her that I understand that attending Indian Residential School when she was a child was the root cause of all of this, starting with the loss of her language and culture and then her innocence and that I wish she never had to experience such pain.
