Comic book creators, like all artists, now have a whole new canvas. It's not limited to the size of a page, nor is it limited to linear order, it doesn't even have to sit still. Whether or not they choose to use it is up to them of course...

Scott McLeod (http://www.scottmccloud.com) discusses this (http://www.scottmccloud.com/comics/icst/), starting from cheap novelty (http://www.scottmccloud.com/comics/icst/icst-1/icst-1.html) as most artists do when they discover a new medium, and finishing at the inevitable question: when do we get paid? (http://www.scottmccloud.com/comics/icst/icst-5/icst-5.html). Which is an important question for anyone who puts a lot of energy into creating stuff on the web.

Which brings me to the question: does anyone have any good web comics links for me to read while i'm wasting time over christmas?

Here's a great one. It's called UserFriendly (http://www.userfriendly.org/)

I'm afraid not. However, I do have a copy of The Trigan Empire, one of the very first graphic novels I read back in the mid-1980s: it was staggeringly good for its time, epic in scope and impressively drawn. The standard of the quality was lacking a certain irony, but those were pre-Moore days....

I don't have any web links for you, but I would like to recommend a graphic novel by Kyle Baker called "Why I Hate Saturn". I think it would interest you.

Looks nice, I like the way he draws - the page samples on his website are canny, especially the second one, though I can't findout much about it.
