View Full Version : Crisis
Which person do you prefer to go to during times of crisis?
I go to my girlfriend. She's always understanding and always has fantastic advice.
I deal with it on my own. My dad and my brother hate to talk about problems and flat out refuse to, and if I try to talk to my mom about the way I feel about certain things, she has me on suicide watch, which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. So it's just easier to deal with it by myself.

depends on the crisis doesn't it, the emotional trauma, what about psyciatrist as an option.
It's not a commonly used one but I'm sure some people might find it more useful.

I always go to my gf. She always makes me feel better no matter how bad it gets - and it gets bad from time to time.

Okay that wasn't true. I'll speak to hollowette, unless the problem is hollowette related. Then i'll go down the pub and speak to friends.

I feel the only way to solve a crisis is to think it thru.....

I don't go to anyone. I'm not the best at confiding in others so I write everything down in a diary. I have kept a diary since I was 5. For me, I'd rather write than talk. Plus I have trust issues so .... yeah - I guess I just turn to myself.
I have been lectured on many occasions on how that isn't healthy, and that's probably true, but I just can't do it.

It's healthy because everything you feel is kept on paper rather than cycling through your head all the time. You write something and ten minutes later you feel the opposite way and that's good. It forces you to analyse everything, used to write daily in a diary and it increased to around a 1000 word entries simply as a way of discussing everything. I like to re-read what I used to write.
I no longer keep a diary mainly because I'm being more active in what I experience and I've experimented far more. Most of the time I was exploring the whole point of relationships. Now that I've thought about it enough I actually experience it and it's quite good.
Any particularly amusing anecdotes in there which make you laugh when you re-read the text?

Actually quite a lot that I have written makes me laugh when I look back on it a year or two or ten later. Because then I usually have a different perspective on things and realize that what was a big crisis at the time was really not all that bad but I couldn't see it at the time.
I really like reading things that I wrote when I was a little kid. Basically it was all about hating my stepmother and being boy crazy ;)

True to a point, I get dumped on regularly by people - I am mother confessor to way too many people, who expect me to fix their miserable excuses for lives (Oh wait, that wasn't nice) ...
When I have a problem, I fix it - I used to use a friend as a sounding board occassionally - but I always dealt with the problem on my own, now that my friend is deceased, I probably talk to myself a lot more than I used to.
