Network Admin for a brokerage firm , you want fun, tell a bond trader that the network is down for 15 minutes -- in that 15 minutes he could lose 100K -- or more -- loved the people, loved the stress, loved the energy, LOVED my salary....
MIS Manager for an Advertising agency -- hated this job, cause I hated the people, bunch of high strung creative types who's heads were so far up their asses most of the time, nothing got done.
Intern at a brokerage firm for 2 summers in college -- good money, lots of drinkin'
Lifeguard 2 summers in high school
Roadie for Bon Jovi one summer back in college, I have never touched a drug in my life, I think I was the only one, I never had more fun ever -

Camp counselor -- this is where my distaste of children began
Waitress at Friendlys -- Lasted 2 weeks - I am not graceful at all --in fact I am a klutz -- people don't find it amusing when you drop a tray of Jim Dandy ice cream sundaes in their lap - -I however .. did

I did that for Samaritans for about a year - luckily I never had anyone kill themself while on the phone, but I just didnt have the warm fuzzy type personality -- they could talk to me to a point - but after a while, it was the same story over and over -- and you just wanted to reach thru the phone, and throttle them and tell them to snap out of it -- many of the callers needed some tough love rather than warm fuzzies.
The training was a hoot -- had to go to 3 AA meetings as part of the training, now I am not a serious drinker, I will have a good martini once in a while, but when you grow up with some drunks, you tend to not be one yourself -- first AA meeting I went to I saw someone I knew so I snuck out the back, went to another meeting, and was so completely turned off by the whole premise of it. Went out for a quick drink with the person who came with me, and ended up seeing several people from the AA meeting in the bar we went to, and they wuzn't drinkin' coffee.
Suicide hotline, that's a tough gig -

A good friend once described me as "someone hell-bent on saving the world... one person at a time." I've always wanted to help people, but that was a tough gig. No matter how many times they 'ready' you for losing someone, it's never enough.
We had a debate about a woman who commited suicide (http://www.nochicktrix.com/forum/showthread.php?postid=9442#post9442) a while back. I've lost friends who killed themselves and have grown cynical to it. I think I'd be horrible at it now. I'd probably tell them, "Make sure it's clean, leave a detailed letter saying you don't blame anyone and don't screw up anyone elses' day." Yeah, that'd work. :whome:
