If you had to choose one instant messanger SERVICE over all the others, which one would it be?

I actually don't have a preference. Each of them has something the others don't. Thanks to you, I like trillian the best, as it combines the best of all of them. (Except it doesn't have the fun backgrounds Yahoo! has.)

AIM, because everyone I know uses it.

I like yahoo because of the invisibility feature, I don't have to respond to someone if I don't want to. (and the drawing game is kinda silly too)

I have to vote for that, its the best in my opinion, or maybe this poll should of been title whats the best Instant Messenger service, as trillian wouldn't be listed in the poll then. :)

I would of choose ICQ otherwise I love the protocol/service but I hate the application itself, dont like the adverts but it does have a few good features.

Trillian is a program that combines all of the different Instant Messengers. You still use one of the messangers above to contact people. ;)

But! I say Trillian for Instant Messenger program and ICQ for service.

Yah, I like Yahoo for the webcam features, and I like getting notified for new yahoo mail (even though it's not my main address)

I choose msn because most people I know use it although some still use ICQ and Yahoo.

i use msn....mainly cuz thats the one my friends use and i dont want to bother using lots...

i use icq i dislike aim but like 3 or so of my friends use it so i try to use it.

Got to vote for IRC as it is the true 'mother' of all chat protocols. The rest are just ugly babies :) It's also the only one which can't be tied one or other commercial organization. By the way, an important one was left out: Jabber. Fairly new but completely open-source, multi-platform and without annoying ads.

i use yahoo most of the time, but also have aim, and msn

AIM as a lot of folks I know use it and it's never given me any trouble,

Against:
MSN because it's all bound up with other MS stuff and will refuse to shut down unless you also shutdown outlook.
