As you know, Luigi is dying of cancer. I was told weeks, but the tumor is growing rapidly. I know I am going to have to put him to sleep. I can accept that. I love him and would never want him to suffer.
Yesterday I was going to take him to the vet. I sat down and he waddled up meowing. Then he did something totally unlike him. He started playing with a cloth toy mouse I had bought. Batting it around, biting and chewing on it, even attempting to kick it with his hind legs. He failed , of couse. After all, he's 22 pounds and basically squashed it beneath him.
He's been eating and drinking as if nothing were wrong. I know that he has some discomfort by the way he shakes his head at times. The tumor is quite large. But I can touch the area with out him flintching. Like it was a part of him.
I love my cat and do not want him to suffer. But it would haunt me to know that he could live another week or so and I took that from him. The doctor discussed watching for signs of the tumor getting bad. There are none.
What would you do?
