Dear,

I am the son of the one time Sierra-Leone Minister of
works and housing Mr. DOMINIC SOKI. My name is BAMAN
SOKI. I am writing to you based on the recommendation
by official of the Sierra-Leone Chamber of Commerce
and Industry. He assured me that your countrymen are
honest and trustworthy.

Before the death of my father, he wrote me in school
and told me about some money, the sum of US$ 16.8m
(sixteen million eight hundred thousand united states
Dollars) he deposited in a security company here in
Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, he declared it as African Art
Works in a metallic box. According to him for security
reason.

I came to Abidjan especially for this transaction. I
have been able to locate the Security Company and this
consignment. My father deposited this box in his name,
and decleared it for his foreign partner.

At this point, I wish to move this consignment out of
Abidjan to your country for investment and personal
relocation purpose as soon as you indicate your
interest to help me out. I will like you to treat this
transaction confidential and secret.

I will upon your response want us to discuss on some
lucrative and viable investment that is available in
your country and the sharing modalities for this Fund.
I will also be relying on your wealth of experience to
guide me through this transaction.

I will appreciate the gesture if you can reach me on
my direct line: 225 07 95 01 41 as soon as you receive
this message to enable us conclude the transaction
once and for all.

I will be counting on your co-operation for the
success of this transaction.

Thanks.
Best Regards
BAMAN SOKI

What I can't believe are the huckleberries that respond, coz you know they wouldn't be pumpin' out more e-mail, snail mail if they hadn't had success somewhere along the line.

Why doesn't he just mail it to the Bank of Australia, like everyone else? Or fake his own death, and emigrate to Colombia; there's an international organization out there which actually helps people arrange fictitious funerals in their own name, in order to claim the life insurance - Villager and Hollow might have seen the feature on terrestrial TV this week. Chilling.

Mind, I'd be tempted to go along with the Baman's wishes, if only out of deference to his superbly crafted name, which is, of course, entirely real and not in the least bit specious or falsely assumed.

Put it this way: scams are easily arranged; all you have to do is find someone weak, temporarily deranged or naive, and pressure them into signing an ambiguously worded legal document. I used to work for a publishing firm that did precisely that: it selected the infirm, the elderly, and the terminally ill, and exploited their lifelong desire for fame. That firm was liquidated last week: you should have heard me laugh when I discovered the news...
