View Full Version : The icon, it's Happy Noodle Boy.
I found Diva's site through Akpcep. Diva and aussie's posts seemed to indicate good hearted, fun people so I came over to peek in.
Imagine my horror when I saw Amaurote and his big brain were already here! *starts to sweat, as she gets the feeling that she misspelled something on her post to Am's thread* Dammit! *tries to redeem herself by spelling definitely correctly*
Oooh, and the one known as Hollowearth on Akpcep, I like his stuff too. *bats eyes*
My Icon is Happy Noodle Boy, from the comic Johhny the Homicidal Maniac.
I'm 32. I live in California. I work in a law office. I hate Martha Stewart.
Welcome aboard, Berly! Glad to have you on! And thanks for the props.
The only thing to be scared of with Amuarote is his hairy hands. Wolfman lives! AAA!!!! Yep, Hollow er... I mean Moriarty.... Fooey! That guy! He's a doll, aint he? Now if only he'd post some shit about Ami.
I love the avatar! I haven't seen the comic strip, though. If you know the site, plug it in the links section. It looks like it'd be a hoot!
G-d bless you... I hate Martha Stewart too!!!
I know you'll have a ball!

Hey Berly, keep coming back, (that sounded like an AA pitch) tell some good gossip on the wolfman hand!!!
I like Martha Stewart's ideas!! Don't like her tho........:cheesy:
Whee. Been having a ball reading the boards. I've speed read Am's posts, as I only read the words I readily recognize. =| I wish I had some gossip on the wolfhand, Red! I think we are going to have to look to Moriarty for that.
Thanks aussie.
Diva, the comic...does not have a link that I know of. There are many sites devoted to it, but most are poorly done. If anyone is interested in reading Johnny The Homicidal Maniac aka JTHM, then puchase the Director's Cut, which is all of the issues in one convenient book. Funny as hell, too. Put out by Slave Labor Graphics and drawn/written by Johnnen Vasquez.
See you all around!
I know what you mean! I love going through the daily posts throughout the day. Take some time reading Ami, He's pretty damn witty. He can make me laugh until tears start coming out!
I'm glad you're having fun. I hope you come back often. It's a great place to be with a bunch of great people!

Welcome, Berly: you were one of the nicer, wholly honest people on Akpcep, and its great to see you posting; I was very moved by your Frontpage submission, like everyone else -http://boron.phase8.net/www.akpcep.com/web/cgi-bin/newspro/arc10-2001.html, for those who haven't already read it - and it's very evident that you've experienced more in your short life than have most of us on this board pooled together, vicariously or not...NoChickTrix is an excellent forum, with an impressive social and geographical range of views, and, while I have no particular wish to denigrate Akpcep (which has its own merits), you'll find a notable absence of the sort of acrimonious factional conflict and ad hominem argument that sporadically divides the forum over there.
I suspect that Hallowed Earth/Moriarty will be able to help you on the Johnny the Homicidal Maniac front, because he has an obscenely profound knowledge of comic subgenres...
Anyway, its great to see an honest human being like yourself subscribing to Diva's site. Keep up the good work.

Amaurote preempts me... I was going to say that I remember slave labour from years back, when it was possible to buy indie comics outside of London... I was a big fan of Oblivion City, and havent got a clue how it finished, aside from the spinoffs.
Am's right though, look : how chilled out, easygoing he seems there in his big leather chair, his cigar, his glass of port, playing backgammon with Aussie?
Thanks guys. You are correct. There is a warmth here, and I like it!!
Thanks Am, for the comment on my post.
Hey, Moriarty - Slave Labour? They must have ou-ed it for England? They are Slave Labor Graphics here, us Yanks and our need to do away with the extra u. I hadn't heard of Oblivion City. Another gem I can now search for. YAY.
aussie, don't drink the bubbly port! Switch glasses with Am when he's not looking.

Berly; I think you're probably right about their name: it's so long since I got them they're back at my folks house, so can't check.
Oblivion City was good, in an oddly/badly drawn black and white kind of way, by a chap called Andy Garcia who probably wasn't this Andy Garcia (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Garcia,+Andy). It's not on their website (http://www.slavelabor.com/) though. They also did Hectic Planet/Pirate Corp$ which was good.
Hi Berly. Welcome to the boards. It looks like you already know some of the crew. I assure you, the rest is just as nice. I know you're going to have a great time here. Great avatar!
Hi Jake. Thanks for the welcome.
I just realized that I overlooked part of aussie's post. *stressy face* ummm, I don't think I will repost that article aussie. I will email it to anyone who can not locate it at Akpcep, if they are interested, but I don't want to plug up the net with my post twice, ya know? Plus, call me weird - but I wrote that after I started visiting Akpcep - something in that site brought all of that out of me - and I'd like to keep it over there. Don't misunderstand me, I don't mind sharing the experience - but I feel like it should remain over there at Akpcep. Does that make any sense? Thank you for the feedback on it though, I do truly appreciate that. :)
What a difference a day makes! I'm glad you're having fun, Berly. I agree with you on keeping the sites separate. This is a different place and should be treated as such. I read your post on the other site, and it's beautifully written from the heart. I hope that No Chick Trix will evoke that sort of honesty and comfort within you.
Hello Berly!
As a newcomer myself I would like to welcome you. It seems there is a site I need to check out and gain some insight to more than a few folks errrrrrmmmm thought processes (if even glancing at those may help  ) Its always great to have another in the mix.
Hiya Usantic!

 indeed! It is one of my favorite places to lurk on the net, but I will say this: I have probably learned more about the people (that this site and that one have in common) by reading HERE, than I did over there.
Also, if you tried to locate the site - it is in the process of moving ?hosts? or something (I'm sooo net term blonde!) so check for it later if it still has not come up.
