scream

[Villager]

as i watch from afar with jailed eyes
my mind does walk to where it shall
and i am taken upon its path.

as i struggle to touch the reins by which i am led
my mind contorts with what i am
and i watch in despair.

as i plough through all around me
my mind dreams of escape
and i must search within myself.

as i see what i must comprehend
my mind tries to create a dream to fit
and i remember that is hopeless.

as i contemplate understanding what i know i never will
my mind departs for the notorious safety of ignorance
and i break under the threat of suffering.

as i see the world beneath me crumble
my mind withdraws unto its artificial haven
and i realise the entirety of my damnation.

as i look back to what i think i leave behind
my mind torments itself with memories and maybes
and i beg myself to relinquish hope.

as i dare to foresee the onset of my journey
my mind is strewn about my thoughts
and i wish for an end.

as i sink back down into my eternity
my mind does return and confirm what i feared i knew
and i scream,

for i know it not.
