NEWS (http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/epaper/editions/friday/metro_e3c4483e430cf1e10019.html) - Wendy Bevil brought her Bengal to the state Capitol to convince state lawmakers the felines are not such bad cats.

The pussycat must have been persuasive. A bill legalizing ownership of the domesticated version of the wild beast passed the state House on Thursday and is likely to get approval from the Senate.

What do you think about 'exotic' pets being legal? Ferrets, snakes, Bengal cats, etc... Do you think that an exotic license is necessary?

I think that people who own pets in general should be required to take a course and maybe even a test on things like nutrition, exercise and other basic care...so yes, they should have a license, but not necessarily a "unusual" pet license.

Well said, kitty.

As far as I'm concerned, an animal is an animal, it's as simple as that.

I also think that people who have kids should be required to take some sort of course. There are just a lot of people who are ill-prepared to take care of any sort of life, be it a goldfish or a baby. Sadly, it's a hard thing to legislate because everyone would throw a tantrum.

Jesus, I totally agree...I've talked about this with multiple friends of mine. People are waaaay too stupid to be breeding sometimes. I feel horrible for the poor children. Then again, no one would ever let that get through the legislature. Man...don't ever touch their guns, their alcohol or their right to procreate.

That's like the woman that put her 3 week old baby (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/showcase/chi-0302150186feb15.story) in middle of the street to 'force' her boyfriend to watch it. He drove off. Luckily, a police office was near by and brought the baby out of harms way. What angers me is that the courts seem to side with keeping the family together. What kind of mother would leave her child in the street? Some things you can't train a person to do. I think that either you have a maternal instinct or you don't.

We need some major reforms for the adoption system in this country. We have so many perfectly wonderful, loving parents who want to adopt and end up going halfway around the world to do so. The system discourages or even stops these people from adopting, it's insane.

In America the biological mother has 2 years to change her mind. Imagine having a child for two years and then losing it because the mother had a change of heart.
