View Full Version : Pollsters Uncertain They Would Kill Usama
FOX (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,58211,00.html) - Americans are divided on their willingness to personally kill Usama bin Laden if given the opportunity.
In a recent poll conducted for FOX News by the research firm Opinion Dynamics, respondents were asked if, in the unlikely event the opportunity presented itself, they would personally kill Usama. Less than half (45%) said "yes," while an almost equal number said "no" (43%) they would not kill the leader of Al Qaeda, the group believed to be responsible for the September 11 terrorist attacks against the United States.
There is a clear "gender gap" on this issue, as men are more likely than women to say they would kill Usama (64% of men to 29% of women). Also, young people (those under the age of 35) are more likely than other age groups to say they would take the opportunity to get rid of the terrorist leader. Among political parties, 50% of Republicans say they would kill bin Laden compared to 40% of Democrats and 45% of Independents.
What about you? If you had the opportunity, would you personally kill Usama bin Laden?

Hmmm...alot of yes here..
I have a hard time believing most of the people saying yes actually would be able to kill him. No matter how much he may deserve it, killing someone is still a very tough decision.
Killing someone, who ever it is, changes you. Alot..

I'm not sure on this one. Killing is...well...it's an easy way out for the person who committed the crimes, now isn't it. They just get to die and that's that. Doesn't seem fitting to me.
i dont think i would kill him if given the chance...i knew people in those buildings...friends....people i used to work with....
i think he should suffer some unimaginable punishment....the body has five senses to abuse and he should have his tortured
kill him so i can send him to be with his god....i dont think so!
Hey, the poll didn't say anything about killing him quick, now did it?
Really, though, I wouldn't have any problem with it, as I think that unless he's killed, he'll do more damage. Serial killers, rapists, child molesters, I wouldn't have any problems removing those threats from society.
I might be cold-blooded, but I believe you must take all reasonable steps to protect yourself & your family, and sometimes you have to do things you don't want to, for the greater good.
Hi jred. Good to see you. I agree with you in that the last time he was in prison he still was planning terrorist attacks which killed many people. As long as he is alive he is a threat two ways:
1. He still has the power to control terrorist acts.
2. They will kidnap, kill and threaten for his release.
You don't solve the problem by killing Bin Laden. How long will it take before another one arises if you don't look and tackle the root of the problem. Or how many more countries do you want to bomb to pieces. Rapists, serial killers? How about frauds, corrupt politicians, cheating businessmen? Where do you draw the line?

You forget, in America we think we are the perfect nation and are more than willing to try and push it on others (*mean sarcasm*). I mean, how dare anyone mess with perfection (*more sarcasm*). ;) It's easier to set our sights on a scapegoat than to deal with the real problem anyway. (*defeated tone*) Dealing with the root of the issue would take too much effort(*sarcasm*). Sigh.
Hey Kitty, as someone who sees the situation in its face value, don't you think we should keep trying to convince those who don't? Like em, salmon fighting against the strong current?

I try, but man is it hard here in Montana. They like their guns...they like to assert that perfection is America...they like to anger the hell out of me. Again though, yes, just because the majority thinks something, and I happen to be in the minority of those who disagree it doesn't mean that I just shut up. I tend to be pretty vocal.
I think you also have to take into consideration that he cares not if he lives or dies. He believes in what he did as much as you and I believe he shouldnt have. He wouldnt care if you tortured him to death, shot him in the head, or let him live with it. He will always believe what he did was right and will never care what you or I think.

Good point, Dimples. ;) Right now, I am not concerned with the thoughts of a mad man. I am more concerned of the people he will kill, either directly or indirectly. I know he isn't the end of evil, just one less in the world.

Why stop at Osama? There are so many other horrible people out there planning atrocities as well...why not go after them. Yes, he did something that was unheard of in America...but it's a reality many other places. He's not the only one to plan the suffering and death of thousands.
Osama Bin Laden serves the purpose of the ruling political class of the USA. Until they wish to change their targets, he will also be singled out as evil incarnated.

I don't want to see Osama bin Ladin ever branded as a martyr. I wouldn't kill him and I wouldn't even want him killed. Best just to lock him up somewhere safe and leave petty revenge to terrorists.
