View Full Version : How often do you vote?
Have you ever missed voting? How important is it to you? Do you feel that it makes a difference? What are the rules about voting in other countries?
My dad dpulled me by the ear to go vote..otherwise i havent cared much..on the other hand..i've only been able to vote once before...so 50% aint that bad..:D
For me it's easy: 100% since voting is compulsary and because I want to vote.

I don't know if I will ever bother to vote. I know it 'wastes' the democracy in which I live, supposedly, but
a) It will never actually make a difference, and
b) I don't actually agree with any party I've come across.

I vote first thing in the morning - every election!! I want the right to bitch!!
a) It will never actually make a difference
The more people think that, then you are right. Just sit on your bum and think that...........

Aha, there's a flaw with that, though, red.
Me voting won't encourage anyone else to. Until I see a party with whom I think "yes, I want these people to represent me in Government" then I'll not just opt for the lesser of the available evils.

Your right but your one vote could make all difference to what your lesser of 2 evils could be......
I think I just confused myself.....

For b): can't help there, start something new?
For a): mmm how many votes separated Gore from Bush again? Over tens of millions of votes?
Nothing much to say on the president's election where you have the electoral college. We had several elections here this past week where canidates for the house and senate won by a very small margin. Actually, one of the races for a state house seat will be in a run off due to less than 40 votes difference. The last time I checked the president can't pass a bill without congress.
Something that most people do not pay attention to is the sections at the end of the ballot. You should pay attention to these sections. The actual community is voting on local issues. It does not have to do with a party. For example, we have a sole commissioner in the county where I live. We was asked to approve a five member board instead. There was also several other issues on taxes. Would you not want to vote on an issue where it is going to affect you directly?
We got rid of Cindy McKinney that way!!!!!!!
GET OUT THE VOTE!!!

1. You must register to vote once you are 18
2. You must vote in every election, fines apply.
