Have you ever gotten really lost? I don't mean passing the street, either. Where were you, what did you have to do to find your way back?

I was camping and lost my watch/compass. It started to rain and I couldn't see anything. I tried to wait out the storm, but it was getting cold and I was just there for the day. It was raining too hard to listen for the river and I started to get concerned. I spent the night cold, wet and miserable. In the morning I got my bearings back and found my way out. Ten miles from my truck. I'll never say anything bad about Rangers again.

I've been lost, even though I had the shamelessly misnamed NeverLost(tm) GPS navigation system in the car at the time. This was on a business trip with a colleague to (I think) Denver. The two of us hire a car, specifically asking for one with GPS so we could find the middle-of-nowhere business we were supposed to be going to the following day. It's late, and it was bucketing down with rain, and we're both tired (I'm especially tired because I've flown in from London the day before and I'm still jet-lagged). We're attempting to use the NeverLost(tm) to navigate to the hotel we're staying at.

Trouble is, the NeverLost(tm) takes so long to speak the instructions for the next turning, that if the turning are close together (in our case, freeway exits), you miss the second turning because it's still telling you about the first one. Then of course, it eventually figures out that you're no longer following the proscribed route, so it recalculates and you're back to square one. What makes it worse is that even though it shows you a little map of where you're supposed to be going, it helpfully replaces the map with a generic picture of a freeway junction every time you come up to one - that's right, it takes away the map at the precise time you want to consult it.

We must have gone around the same mess of tangled freeway intersections about half a dozen times before we got things straightened out.

Other than that, no, I rarely get too lost.

I can remember getting lost in my cousins house. It wasn't that big but I was only 4 and missed my mommy. I managed to lock myself in the basement and couldnt fnd the light switch.

DC... you're cool. I wouldn't of thought you had kids and crew, and your posts are funny as shit. Verbose, terrific... I wish you'd post more, I like your type. (is there a DC type)

Did you ever get out of your cousins' house?
