How many people follow their religion? What are you on paper?

I don't really follow a religon as such. I do consider myself a spiritual person but not in a sense that I follow a specific religon. I was even considering celebrating Winter Soltice this year instead of Christmas.
On paper..Christian Protestant..In reality??
As none spiritual one can be..
Too much evil done , too many lives taken and too much destruction made in the name of religions..
I believe in man, myself and my team..
Spoken like a true soldier. What happened to your signature? You cutting the Rangers loose?
Nahh..just needed something new while i make another one..:)
I cant cut the Rangers loose..It's always going to be part of me..For better and worse..
Well, as long as you don't take those eyes away. I think you'd make Red cry. ;)
And we certainly dont want that..
Im not taking them away..They'll be there somewhere..:)
I am a catholic on paper but denounce it whole-heartedly. As Marx said: religion is opium from and for the people.

Nobody is religious "on paper". You're either religious, or you're not. If you mean "my parents are religious" then say so, because your parents being religious does not make you religious, not even "on paper".
Personally, I'm not religious. Religions are just cults that got lucky and popular. They make no sense, and in many cases are actually quite damaging.

I've tried on a few various religions, but none have done anything for me. I actually refused to be religious "on paper" frequently...and it often got me pushed out of churches.

Sterling and Kitty....... thanx... it's refreshing to hear folks speak up, about the worst scam perpetuated on man/ by man. Organized religion. Created by power freaks, for sheep........ Any concept of 'God' on paper or otherwise, is in the heart, not kneeling on a fuckin' pew somewhere, handing over your hard earned dough.
How can you justify a religion that says sin all week, confess on sunday, and you can start all over again. Let alone the perverts that dominate our churches, and then allow the church to turn it's back on the very people it serves.
OUR CHILDREN, are being abused, by people that aren't even being made to pay. If any of us were to commit one of these heinous acts, would we walk free??? As reprehensible as the act is????? they should cut their balls off. Fuck.....
Damn, I hate religion. If god is that f'n powerful, then strike me down, right f'n now.

I agree whole heartedly Biff. It's really nice to hear, while I'm out in the middle of male-minded, mindless following, rednecks. It's tough.
This whole seperation of Church and State thing bugs me as well. By making religions an exception to various rules we AREN'T keeping them seperate. If they were subject to the same laws as everything else...THEN, then we would have suceeded...ah well.

Kitty, you're my hero. Really........It takes guts to say anything against religion/the church these days, what with mass f'n fear running rampant. I know folks who have never believed in god, yet won't say diddly, because maybe, just maybe, he/she does exist. If there is a god, (highly unlikely to a thinking human) then I do pray, really, that he's a she. Compassion runs it's own agenda.
You Love or you Don't....... period........
Thanx again Kitty...... a BIG pet peeve............
Take good care of your brothers and sisters, then you'll find 'god'

Too many people believe just in case. My heart dropped when a guy I was dating told me that. He followed it up by saying he wanted to either be a pastor or a priest when he got older. I dumped him. And began to lose faith in people. Why aren't they stronger? I mean really...why are people soooo scared.
I was watching the 700 club, out of morbid curiosity, and someone called in and said the well known "... More wars have been fought in the name of religion than for any other reason" the point was dismissed by Pat, or whatever his name is, because the person who said it was "a noted homosexual". UGH!
So many reasons to just give up now and not care. And yet, that would only make it all worse. It's just too much for a few people to change. How many dreamers have been plunged into the sea of reality...there are a lot of good people out there...and yet things seem only to get worse. I'd like to hope for the next generation to have an eyeopening experience...but hasn't everyone already been hoping. For years? No real progress seems to be made...I'm going to stop now, I'm depressing myself.

You're not depressing....... me!!! Below what you say, is something else again. Not hope!!! Hope is waiting for someone else to do something. Determination!!! that's what you (miss kitty) can give. It infects everyone, and you have the stuff.

Thanks...I really appreciate the pep talk. The next question, which I know I have to figure out on my own...is what to do with the determination?

Kitty... start with one basic idea. Where's my balls???? I know you have way too much class to be intimidated by that, so, what do I mean????
The next elected bunch will be??? Who??? You guys... and Gals.
All my life, I saw that the ones that whimpered, were ignored. Make a noise, find a place to say 'I don't like what I see, and I'm willing to show you a better idea' Not just, 'I don't like the way you're doing it' I'm not preaching doll, I'm saying that you "miss kitty" already have the balls. (sic)

Sorry to get off the point, but my best friend and I always joke about our balls having dropped before anyone else's :P She's like me...but she's losing the ability to care :(

Sterling you misunderstood me. By saying 'on paper' I meant I was baptized thus for the catholic church I am part of their 'flock'. I am NOT religious.

Be a 'missionary'. Make those rednecks see the true light?
kittyroze

Lol...already doing that I suppose. Now what was that about taking a missionary position? Huh?
Tsssss, dirty mind for a wild kitty. Here's me trying not to make the usual male-below-the-belt comments ;)
Mm.
Well, I was baptized in an Episcopal church, but I don't follow conventional religion. I agree with everything that Biff stated in his earlier post. People use their religion as a soapbox to judge and condemn others as they see fit, because they've already got their one-way ticket to salvation. That's two things that I can't STAND about organized religion. Hypocrisy and social hegemony.
I like the facets of many Eastern religions, however, such as the concept of karma, as well as many of Lao-Tse's ideas that were written in the Dao De Jing. They seem less cluttered and contradictory than Western religions.

Being baptized does not make you religious "on paper" either. I assume you got baptized to fulfill some societal pressure (e.g. your family thought you ought to be). Heck, you probably weren't old enough to decide, or even know what was going on. You've actually fallen victim to one of the insidious little tricks that cults, er, I mean religions, play on people. They get you to think that you're 'one of them', and perhaps have just 'lapsed', as though because of who you were born to, or whatever spooky ceremony you were put through before you were old enough to make up your own mind, you're somehow 'supposed' to be one of them. If you don't believe in Catholicsm, you are not Catholic - and don't let the cult trick you into believing otherwise.

Wow... I woke up thinking I would have to take a licking, instead I see these fine-minded, clear thinking, brothers and sisters. Cult is right, just more organized, and definitely richer. Why is it that the catholic church, if it were a business (isn't it?), would be the winner, hands down, for the richest institution in the world.?
I also agree with our Sterling. What's with the ceremonies and cult practices that occur routinely, in all religions, meant to frighten and keep the 'flock' in line. Wait... FLOCK!! sheep flock.
Flock the Cult mongers.
Flock IT!

Sterling, LOL. Let me get one thing straight: I AM NOT RELIGIOUS, nor Catholic. However my name can be found in church records being baptized, doing first and second communion etc. That's all I meant.
Let's start a bonfire brother heretic :D

Sad thing is...many of the religious folks up here like being called sheep. There's even a song...
"I just want to be a sheep, ba ba ba ba
I just want to be a sheep ba ba ba ba
I pray the lord my soul to keep
I just want to be a sheep ba ba ba ba"
Clever AND catchy, eh?
Maybe it's because of the woolly clothes they wear?

Hey, I taught Sunday school for a little while. I DID sing it in church.
A friend of mine wrote in a few of the bible's (I don't approve of being this bad)...before the book of Job she wrote hand, rim, or blow.
"How does a Montanan find a sheep in tall grass?"
-Very pleasurable. ;)

Ah, Montana, where the men are men and the sheep are nervous...
