The adhesive used to attach this metal to paper or plaster, in ancient times and still today, is... egg whites.<br /><br /> The skin is only about as deep as the tip of a ball-point pen. First-degree burns affect only the very top layers of the skin; second-degree burns, midway through the skin's thickness. Third-degree burns penetrate and damage the entire thickness of the skin.
