Since I graduated in May, I've been driven mad by my inability to find a decent-paying job, and I haven't had an interview since late June. It gets to be depressing...

I've been stuck at home with my mom all summer. It's the most aggravating and frustrating thing ever. She has spent most of her time yelling at the kid she baby-sits - my cousin, Austin. She's often been worse than the kid.

I've vented a lot on Facebook - sometimes innocuous, otherwise benign little posts talking about how she's been yelling all day. Other times, they were far more severe notes.

I checked my Facebook today, logged off, and went for a 5 mile walk. When I came home, what do I find but my mom looking through my Facebook - snooping through status updates, etc.?

I posted one in which I mentioned that I was happy she was leaving for four days because Iwas tired of hearing her scream at Austin all day. I'm pretty certain that's all she saw, but she hasn't stopped complaining about it.

She's told everyone about it, claiming that baby-sitting is her "profession"and I'm damaging her chances of getting a job. The entire profile is private, I usually only refer to her with the pronouns "She" or "Her," and I have 20 friends, many of whom I only know online and who live in distant locales.

I'm pretty furious about having my privacy invaded for no reason, and by someone so unapologetic about it. This is why I DON'T like her.

I can't believe anyone would do something like that. It's just beyond me.

I don't know how it works over there, but over here, reading someone else's mail without permission is a serious offense. The law is called "Secrecy of correspondence".

"Whomever without permission takes upon oneself to access a message, such as a mail or telecommunications delivered by companies in said businesses, is convicted for breach of post or tele secrecy to fines or prison for up to two years."

It's concidered dangerous for democracy to breach this secrecy. Back in the days of manual switchboards within telephone communications, our state company Televerket (guess they correspond to AT&T or something) prouded themselves in their 'discrete operators' who didn't use their position.

So, reading someone's mail or listening in on phone calls are serious offenses.

It's not legal here, either.

She has read my mail before. The American Red Cross sent a letter, and she decided to open it and read it while I was gone. When I got home, she tried to claim at first that she thought it was for her. This was obviously a crock of crap, as she hasn't donated blood in decades and she knows I'm the only one in the household who has any affiliation with the organization.

She then proceeded to tell me that although she knew the mail was mine, she was "worried" that the letter might say I have leukemia, and as my mother she saw it fit to find out herself. Without asking me. I was livid.

This woman is always breaching my privacy. Yet another major reason why I want to get out. She never sees what she does wrong and she can't handle any criticism, no matter how justified it is.
