It might be diverse, but not everyone is happy. Some women's groups are disappointed. Among Obama's strongest backers during the election, they now say they don't have enough seats at the table.
Obama has said he's picking people for their skills and not pandering to special interests. “In this case, we have seen Obama emphasize credentials," said Anne Kornblut of The Washington Post. "I think they obviously knew they would get a lot of bang for their buck, so to speak, in appointing Clinton, but at the end of the day, the numbers really aren't any more impressive than any previous president."
Once again the special interest groups are whining about Obama. It would seem that each group wants to claim him as their own and toot their own horn about how much they supported him… which means he owes them something. I call bullshit. He doesn’t owe any one group anything. He wasn’t voted in by any one group. He was voted in by American citizens who were begging… screaming for change. I don’t give a flying fuck how many women are in his Cabinet. What matters is the message that he brings with him and the change that he follows through on. And NO ONE is even giving the guy a chance. They scream about wanting more minorities, more diversity, more … and yet they want the new administration to be a powerhouse of brilliant people to deliver us from this state of hell that the Bush Administration put us in. I’ve got news for you… you can’t have it both ways. I’d rather have a white male Christian who is able to do the job than a minority female Jew who only does a passable job. We need the right people for the job, and that means making decisions based on qualifications. You want someone who will be there to speak for you regardless of their qualifications? Why don’t you look back on the past eight years. Right wing religious nuts who didn’t want gays to be married voted Bush in. Look where that got us. Yeah… shut the fuck up.
