OK- where you live, are people usually responsible for their surroundings (not littering, keeping things nice & such?) or do they leave a trail of refuse wherever they go?

I'll start here in NY.

Like I said in mine's thread about goint to the races, where I live is GORGEOUS! I'd say it's one of the nicest areas for beach scenery just about anywhere in the US, at least if you look at the scenery without getting too close.

Empty a pack of cigarettes? Throw the empty pack on the ground. Tear the paper off a candy bar? Empty that cardboard bait box? Take your sandwich out of the plastic bag? Most people throw it on the ground. Have a big (or small) party on the beach? They leave all their garbage EVERYWHERE, & there's ALWAYS broken beer bottles & cups & other garbage all over the beach. No more going barefoot in the summer- too much broken glass.

The area has "cleanup day" in certain places a couple of times a year, but within a day or 2 it's just as dirty as before it was cleaned.

Frustrating...

I live in one of the cleanest areas , that I have seen. And I have been in a LOT of states. Everything is clean here. NO litter No trash etc. Manicured roadsides... Palm trees and landscaping. People take pride in living where we do.

As for the beaches... Everyone knows about florida beaches but one of the highest rated beaches nationally is Lovers Key. Phenominal place.

Hmm I live right outside of Kansas City..There are some nice clean areas but for the most part its dirty. They have to pass ordiances to get ppl to take care of the yards. Every house to my left right and accross the street are all empty and that doesnt help, no one even mows the lawns.

Our area's alright. We live in a nice neighborhood with not too much refuse or careless people, which is one of the reasons that being so close to the People's Republic of Santa Monica is a blessing.

Here's my house, and for the most part all of our area is like this... a few houses not as kept up but still maintained.

I live just south of Detroit, in a suburb in which it varies from looking like a not-so-bad part of Detroit to a pretty decent suburbian area. I am fortunate enough to live in the nicer part. Nothing special really, and it's not great, but it's a decent place to live. Litter is present, but fairly minimal.
