CNN: Gov. Sarah Palin charged the state for her children to travel with her, including to events where they were not invited, and later amended expense reports to specify that they were on official business.
The charges included costs for hotel and commercial flights for three daughters to join Palin to watch their father in a snowmobile race, and a trip to New York, where the governor attended a five-hour conference and stayed with 17-year-old Bristol for five days and four nights in a luxury hotel.
In all, Palin has charged the state $21,012 for her three daughters' 64 one-way and 12 round-trip commercial flights since she took office in December 2006. She also has charged the state for hotel rooms for the girls.
Okay, time to weigh in. Palin is NOT a single mom. She's got a husband to take care of the kids. And if she couldn't find any family members or people to care for them then she should have paid their way. The state should not have to pay for her to drag along her kids and play tourist. For someone bragged about saving the state money by selling the official plane (at a loss, no less), you'd think she would take care to not turn around an... oh fuck it. Who am I kidding. This chick seems like she's the best thing since sliced bread to some Republicans (mainly the single kind) so what does bringing this to light even do? It reinforces those who already have an opinion of the McCain/Palin campaign and gives more ammo to those trying to make the Obama/Biden campaign seem petty. Never mind that the media isn't owned by Democrats. Never mind that the people who are voicing their concern are doing so both as Democrats AND American citizens.
I am just so angry about the nastiness this campain has shoved down the throats of Americans and beyond. McCain needs to stop with the character assassination tactics that he keeps claiming aren't happening and start to talk about his plans for this nation. While marking the differences between the two he also needs to stop using this to once again attack Obama and Democrats in general. I think he also needs to get that stick out of his ass and make a statement against the racist and anti American statements (http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/10/21/congressman-admits-saying-liberals-hate-real-americans/) that members of his party are making. Saying Democrats don't believe in G-D? Fuck you! Saying Democrats are anti American and don't have values? Again, fuck you! If McCain REALLY wanted to be President he'd stop with this school yard taunting and ACT LIKE A FUCKING PRESIDENT! Sorry, I'm just so outdone with all the negativity and wild accusations. McCain's wife claims Obama is running one of the "dirtiest campaign (http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/10/21/cindy-mccain-lashes-out-at-media-viciousness/#more-25743)" in American history. Wait, what? While they are BOTH running negative attack ads, McCain's is far worse in content. Saying negative things about the opponent's tax plan is completely different than saying they are anti American or 'palling around with terrorists'. In short... be Presidential or step aside. Asshole.
