This driving me fucking crazy. I am trying to find the title of a movie I saw when I was a kid. It was about a guy who is killed in a car race against another guy (50's era) and dies when his car goes off the cliff because his watch is stuck to the stick shift and he can't jump out of the car. So years later he comes back as an angel watching over some kid who ends up comepting in a race just like the other one. And the ghost finds out his girl married the guy he raced. I know this sounds weird but if this sounds fmailiar to you please let me know, any help at all is appreciated. I am going insane trying to figure this out.

I remember an episode of Ghost Whisperer (tv show, not a movie) which was really close to the movie you're describing but not what you're looking for.

The beginning made me think of Rebel Without A Cause, but I don't remember ghosts in that one :P

I first thought of Rebel Without a Cause then The Heavenly Kid. So, I'm guessing THK stole part of its storyline from RWAC and just went further with it. ;)
