We saw Iron Man this weekend. Can you say "IT ROCKS!" I knew you could. Light hearted, fun and thoroughly enjoyable. Robert Downey Jr IS Tony Stark. Not too cocky, not to angry. The action was great, the suit was awesome and Gwyneth Paltrow actually looked kinda hot. Plus... love those fuck-me-pumps that she was wearing. If you wanted me to be picky, the bad guy (no spoilers so I won't say who) was a tad unrealistic in how he transformed. Not enough to spoil the fun, that's for sure. If you're looking for an enjoyable movie then this is DEFINITELY a must see. I just can't wait to see if they do a sequel!

Police said Joe David Jones, 50, of Austin, was cited for disorderly conduct. Jones did not immediately return a phone call from The Associated Press seeking comment.:lolrotf: Irony. Love it.

OMG we got to see Iron Man last weekend and LOVED it too! Keith was a little upset at the beginning with the whole Iraq/Afghanistan scenerio, which was disturbing...but OMG that movie rocked! And I agree D, the "bad guy" was a little contrived, but we still loved it and had a great time....can't wait to see it again! (Also can't wait for the new Indy movie, the new Narnia movie, and of course Batman!)

Ha, it was an Ironman weekend. I went and saw it as well on Saturday. Marvel already has a sequel planned in the budget and they are in the works of signing the same director. Sure didn't waste much time on that.

This movie really made my weekend. I'm not going to go into plot, etc... so we don't ruin it for others... but when he first tests the flying option I literally jumped. I think Jake was more tickled by my reactions than anything. Plus... he saw it a week before.

And the cars were gorgeous. Assassin, I hope the same cast signs on. Especially Downey. He honestly made this role even better. It's like Depp and Jack Sparrow. I don't think I would have enjoyed it half as much if another actor was involved.

Before the movie started they had a few bloopers to show. I cannot wait to get the DVD for that. It looks as if they had a great time. Speaking of previews... the Get Smart movie has some promise from the clips they showed (and bloopers/interviews).

I really can't see myself watching a film based on a cartoon or a comic any more: I think I'd inwardly die if ever I heard myself saying, "One ticket for Spiderman 7, please" - and this is from a man who agreed to see Fred Claus last Christmas.

Its true, Downey Jr. did add to the role. I don't think they could have picked someone better. I don't see why they wouldn't sign back on, it made lots of cash, the movie was fairly popular and the director did a good job. I have seen a lot of crap lately and this was definitely refreshing.

Why not?

And Fred Claus looks hilarious. I want to see that, but Bo won't let me. :p

No, save yourself a few bucks and rent Simple Men instead, you aren't missing anything except the sight of Kevin Spacey slumming it.

It's not rational, but, however respectable the genre has become...comics, superheroes, spandex - nah, it's just not my bag.

*smiles* but there's no spandex in Iron Man. It's definitely a 'place your brain outside the theatre' movie. It's simply for enjoyment.

Hmmm... I really can't see myself seeing this one, and I have seen almost every comic derived movie thus far. Iron Man just wasn't on the radar of "cool" heroes in comics...

Okay... Let the Iso-bashing begin! :lolrotf:

some characters surprise you-- ie wolverine -- in comic book he is big muscles and a 5'3" character but in movie he is 6 ' and not that muscle bound-- in comic iron man aka tony stark is 6 ' plus which robert downey isn't-- yes showing my geek side and how much i know about comics--but liked wolverine as different and can appreciate the x-men movies as long as i dont' try to make any comparisions to comic book
and from what i see of the trailers this movie should rock-- and as everyone has said IT DOES--so it will be on my list to see

/me bashes Iso just because :hahflick:

It really did surprise me. I didn't see it the first time with Jake, Kittyroze and Caufield because it looked eh. But after hearing about it and seeing their reactions I decided to try it out. It was a really pleasant surprise.

I was surprised by just how much *I* liked it, too. Bo had been practically pitching a fit to see it (his being a male and all that)(I  you, baby!), and I wasn't hesitant to see it at all, but I think ... it might actually be possible that I enjoyed it even more than HE did. :lolrotf:

I mean ... I really really really liked the movie!!

I was the same way, Jules. Partly because he had seen it before. But I am soooo looking forward to the DVD. I would definitely see this again in the theater. It was good fun.
