View Full Version : The Perfect Day
I have heard so many people say the same phrase: This has been the worst day of my life. I've said it, and I'm sure most of you have either said or thought it. When it comes to bad times, we have no qualms about letting everybody know about it.
What about your best day? Can you recall what would be considered [one of] the best day[s] of your life?
If you could plan it, what would your best day be? What would you do?

Okay, this is going to sound really sad, but one day that I'll always remember was the 1997 General Election in Britain. I was a volunteer for the Labour Party, and spent the day knocking on doors, getting voters out to the polling stations. The sun was shining, and everywhere I went, I had people in the street wishing me "good luck mate". I went to council estates where normally I get my head kicked in, and instead was greeted by wellwishers.
I worked from polls open (7am) to polls close (10pm). Somehow, I didn't seem to get tired.
Then back to HQ for the post-election party and to watch the results come in. Much alcohol was consumed. We won our constituency from the previous Tory incumbent. Michael Portillo (almost-universally despised Tory MP) lost his seat. The result was a landslide for Labour, and no-one seemed to mind that "Things Can Only Get Better" was on repeat play for 4 straight hours. The adrenaline rush was huge, and I was still up at 10 or 11 the next morning, watching the TV coverage of Tony Blair arriving at Downing Street. The mood in the country was noticeably different that next day - people on the busses and tubes were smiling, and there was a real sense that things really were going to get better.
Plus, I got laid. :cheesy:

Perfect day? Waking up to a 70 degree sunny day with a nice breeze. Having a good hair day, clothes day, feeling good. Going downtown to the trendy bar district for lunch and a few pitchers. Sitting outside watching the bikers riding down the street. Sitting outside at the bar enjoying the weather. Then I'd do a little window shopping in the vintage stores, mystic stores, sex stores. etc... And then back to the bar when the sun goes down. Listen to some bands. blues, alternative, whatever is playing that night. Maybe dance if I'm still able to walk. And top it all off with a big hotdog with the works from the vendor. Or Denny's. That is a plan soon to come. <----(waiting on the sunshine)
I think my perfect day will be the moment when I would feel 100% in harmony with everyone and everything. Unfortunately I think it will only happen in Utopia :)
