View Full Version : Left Overs....
I'm a VERY picky eater... right down to eating left overs. In our household their called 'JakeD's lunch'. It's very rare that I will save it for later.
What about you? Do you USUALLY save leftovers to eat later or toss it? Remember, this only entails foods that CAN be saved.

If I like it, I keep it. I love leftovers. Especially left over desserts.
I'm still a growing boy! I could make myself a meal meant for a family of 5 and not have any of it left over afterwards. I percieve the term "all you can eat" as a challenge. Someday I'm going to take on one of those "eat it all in 2 hours and it's free" steaks.

we usually make dinner that is enough for 4 so we have leftovers for dinner the next night. I like leftovers - much easier to reheat it then to cook the whole meal :)

I try to save as much as I can if there is stuff left over, but in my dorm we usually don't have much left over, and at my parents house everything is kept and then pushed to the back of the fridge and then on sundays my dad eats things that are just past their prime and then gets gas.
great fun...
and I give sean some leftovers and stuff and then they sit in his fridge while he eats other crap....ungrateful slob

Left overs huh? Hmmmm...meat (left over roast or turkey) never goes to waste...freeze some for later, refrigerate some for the next 1-2 days sometime. Desserts were meant to be enjoyed and not wasted...always try to keep those sealed tight as they keep better and you can enjoy them later. I can't think of much else we save. (Hehe...rarely any leftover vegetables...I'll eat them for my dessert!)
Haha...had a patient one time that apparently was extraordinarily picky though....he has you beat (I HOPE)...family told me that had he not been sedated and on life support, that he would have driven me nuts as he had to know the expiration date of EVERYTHING...at home eggs, bread, milk...it all had to be bought THAT day or it wasn't good....right down to the cigarettes he smoked they told me. I was grateful he was sedated that day!!!!! :D
I find it funny that It had to be bought THAT day, since all of those sit on the shelf in the store for weeks allready. I bet half the stuff he threw away and re-bought was from the same production run.

All I know is what the wife and son told me. They came into the room and started quizzing me on all the dates (on IV fluids, on the tube feedings we were pumping in, on the medications they saw me giving, yada, yada)...I was getting rather annoyed (to say the least) when they finally explained. (Actually what really ticked me off was that they'd ask me a question and then chuckle, like it was some big joke, and I was really busy...the guy was sick...ended-up-dying-sick. Anyway, I was ready to kill myself, or better yet them, when they finally "fessed" up.)

You think they could have at least explained first!

Hehe...people are very interesting creatures!
But, back to the subject...leftovers...rarely have any worth keeping, but with a teenage boy at home, I have THE PERFECT garbage disposal for what little we have.
Aha!!!! That's what you need Diva...a teenage boy! Get to work Jake...you can't do this overnight very easily. LOL :D
PS Hmmmm...there are sites that will give you ideas on how to use those leftovers too (eg, allrecipes.com). Just do a search...you may find a new favorite!
Living on a very limited budget makes last night's dinner my lunch for the next however many days it lasts.
