View Full Version : Sports: What The Athletes Get & Ticket
I want to know your views!!!! I love sports [hockey]. But I enjoy the game more than
any team. So what I don't get is the astronomical prices. Will someone please shed
some light?
Wake up Diva! Supply and demand! Cumquats will pay the price, and non-graduates reap the bucks! I kant spel cache but gimme sum of dat foldin green cuz I can run, and throw! Win I am reel rich i can cut my wife in her throte and go golfin.
So, my rotten attempt at ignorant slang smacked of ebonics. Bad taste, but I still say OJ did it! BTW, my wife went to see Pat Benatar the other night. $40.00! I stayed home, consumed beverages and listened to old music. Had a nice email type converstation with a sharp young lady. Cost less than a Diamondbacks ticket!
Hell yeah, OJ did it. And is is walking around free. You'd think by now someone would have taking this fucker out. He is evil. The worst part is... he was my hero growing up.
All commentaries aside, Mick. Seriously... Why the high prices? I can't even imagine the amount of money Shaq makes and I can do better granny-balling a free throw.
We traded Mike Piazza for some second rate players and now the Dodgers is 'dodging' last place all the time. At least in effort. We loved Piazza, he's a great player... they wouldn't fork up the dough and now the Dodgers bite.
Hey Chickeeta, I agree. And it's not off topic, Topics are just a starting point for a conversation. I agree that we shell out the green for players who don't even get through college without help and yet the the people who work hard and give to society are kept underpaid and under the thumb or big business.
Why is it that the higher the salery the less honest work is done. CEO's have a team to help create one idea... and to throw infront of attacks on his decisions. Yet the people who work in the stores, factories, mines, streets, etc... are made to be the most expendable. Ask the CEO where the recycled paper goes. Or where the supplies are. Nine out of ten will give you a blank, glazed expression and grab the first person who looks like an 'employee' and hurl them at you.

its slightly off the intent of your post but i find it appalling that professions that directly impact our lives and our families [teachers, nurses] barely get paid peanut shells (and as a result only the sucky ones are left as a rule) and yet somewhere someone finds gobs and gobs and gobs of money to pay some bozo who can throw/kick/run and provide us with entertainment
these greedy fucks get paid too much. people who pay attention to this shit and invest all this time and money in this shit are stupid. Next?
You know, RudeDawg, it's the fans who get slammed. The regular joe who has to pay these prices to enjoy a sport and show support for a team. Just like your devotion to Lacrosse. We're the ones who end up paying. C'mone, give Diva's topic another shot.
My opinion. Cap the whole thing. Do a clean sweep. If they can do it in businesses in the outside world, then they can do it here. Then maybe we can get rid of these drug abusers and steroid users and get back to the game. Watch a regular guy win one for the gipper, so to speak.
i'm not shuttin' down the topic, i just want new voices, opinions and other shit that makes sense. people who just say shit to say shit get on my nerves. it's not present in this strand, but it got to me for a bit.
anyway, case and point and diva will know what i'm talkin' about:
LA Lakers wanted to sign Shaquille O'Neal to a contract but lacked the overall funds to do so. then some higherup came up with a plan. they approached shaq with a fat contract and he signed with no complaint. a month or two later they started the season. people who usually attend games were treated to a nice surprise when "cheap seat" tickets went from $9.50 to $21.50 over-fuckin'-night.
See?!?!?! Shaq got the money and the fans get the shaft. Then some of the darkest days in the history of the Lakers happened when they brought that moron Dennis Rodman on. I wonder how much they paid for that trainwreck?
but diva, he brought you a national title! that's prize enough, right?
No, hon. It's bullshit. Sports used to be about being a team. Sportsmanship. Something the kids could watch and look up to the players. They were heros. Now they're convicts. Self centered, drug atticts, uneducated hoodlums.
I want my hero back!
