View Full Version : Birthday Poll!
In honor of our own little greepy guy on the net I thought this poll would be fitting. What do you prefer to get on your birthdays by friends? (This is a Multiple Choice Poll.)
Bonus question: Is this different from what you prefer to get by loved ones and close friends? If so, why?

When I was growing up, my family was and are still members of a cult that teaches birthdays are bad. I have NEVER had a birthday party, and until 4 years ago I have never had a birthday gift. I missed out on so much as a kid. No holidays,no birthdays and so on, so I really have no idea what a real birthday is supposed to feel like so I chose none of the above.

I'm not big on birthdays. I voted for the last option.
I don't mind a small token gift or something maybe, that's fine (although entirely not expected), but nothing more than that. Saying "happy birthday" is plenty enough commotion over it for me.

Anything really....
Usually I get nothing for my birthday (except from family) unless I orchestrate the planning of the party/going out etc etc...
and usually people forget my birthday...but whatever...I'm forgettable apparently

where abouts you from? I am in Ontario.Depending on who you ask either the GTA or the Hamilton area at the moment. Hopefully early next year I will be in Edmonton. Where do you reside?

Not to interrupt the Canadian meeting, I answered all of the above. Now, what I want & what I get are 2 different things. This last birthday, for example, the only 'happy b'day' greetings I got was from you guys. Oh, & mom said "H. B." but I didn't hear anything from anyone else. My daughter in law thought my son called me & he 'forgot'. Ain't no big thang.

I haven't had a good birthday in ages. At this point, I just want a good old, "happy birthday!"
For my friends, I've gone so far as to plan surprise birthday parties, where I've had to go through elaborate measures to get everything done.
I'm not really into giving or receiving presents. A happy birthday is good enough for me.

i think eveyone enjoys getting something --even a small token that you are remembered on "your" day-- and since my bday is normally on or the weekend of memorial day, it somethimes gets eclipsed by that but close family -- my mother always calls, sometimes my cousin calls, both sisters try to call-- and wife wishes me happy day-- will see this year as son will be 3 by my bday--
think most people (sorry canuck-what a weird religion/cult) enjoy/expect it more when you are a kid, then as we grow we forget others day and then realize we are busier and don't expect people to remember as much

I looked for an answer that was all and none of the above. I believe I enjoy that fact that folks have remembered and said something , come by the house, even a present from a select few, though nothing is ever expected.Usually my friends will have a party of sorts. s cookout grilling that sort of thing. The presents from these folks are always great ones, if they last till the next day which most of them do not ..But wew do have a blast that day, night and sometimes into the following day..Surprises tho are always great!

I like cake :) Never really like to be the centre of attention so big paries has not been anything I enjoyed to much growing up. But I will always love getting a cake - and my hubby is really good at the present part too so I dont mind those either.

I want it all but that is just the Leo in me according to my mom. These last few years i was happy just to get a happy birthday from someone.

I broke my own rule and got you something. You just need to come over and pick it up. :p
