This weekend was a blast! Thursday night we headed down to San Diego after JakeD got out of class so we didn't have to deal with a three hour drive in the morning and then try to enjoy walking around for a few hours and then have to drive back.
While speeding driving down we came upon a Mercedes tailgating another in front of us. After bullying them out of the lane the car continued on, but not fast enough for my liking. After a few hints the car moved to the next lane, but not before we noticed the license plate: Ike Tunr. I jokingly mentioned that it was probably him and he'd kick my ass. As we drove by JakeD looked at the driver. Yeppers, I just passed Ike Turner. We arrived in San Diego after midnight and just in time to see a hillside in flames. It was wild. From there we headed to the motel and crashed for the night.
On Friday we headed to the San Diego Zoo and after searching for the damn parking lot made our way in. It was a hot day and the animals were not active. We still managed to ooh and aaah our way through the exhibits. The Meercats were a blast to watch as were the tortoises. We got there just in time to watch 'turtle porn' and make TONS of jokes with the surrounding people. I think the best part was some guy ushering his kids over to see the HUGE turtle only to be told 'Uh, dude... that's TWO turtles'. He quickly ushered the kids away. I sulked at the Tiger cage when he was a no show and we passed by the Panda exhibit with a big 'Idon'tthinkso' after looking at the line. You'd think it was a roller coaster or free beer line. Jeesh. The other highlight (for JakeD) was in the bird sanctuary when I got dive bombed by four or five fast moving birds. I felt the wings on my face they were so close. I did the usual scream and he stood there laughing. I swear it was like a scene from The Birds. The ride home was a bit more tedious, but that's because we hit all the traffic of people getting off of work/going out of town for the weekend. Still... we managed to get home just in time to meet the wonder Kittyroze and her Muse. To be continued....
