The women who work next to me have been on a roll lately. Cluck cluck cluck all day long. Everything from their children, their love life and the latest celebrity gossip. It's not even good gossip. They talk just loud enough to break any sort of concentration I have but not loud enough to have their boss step in. Hell, most of the time she's right there with them, chit chatting away. During the time I have been at this location the woman next to me has been at her desk working for about one third of the time. I kid you not. The rest of the time she's either playing a game, surfing the gossip sites, standing at her coworkers desk or off on a vacation day. Bitter much? Hell yes!

Politely ask them to be quieter. I used to do it at the last job all the time. Granted, we all seemed to be more mature than you describe your workplace to be (no offense, just seems it).

"Hey guys, I don't mean to be a dick, but this code is convoluted as hell, and I kind of need to concentrate, can you just speak a little quieter? I'll put headphones on, they just don't quite block out everything, that's all"

"Oh, sorry. No problem"

Unfy - That doesn't work with most women. Most certainly not the kind who sit around clucking and gossiping all day.

I agree with entipy, doing that to gossipy, clucky women results in office politics nightmare.

Yet another reason I prefer to be male then, I guess. Less bullshit drama (typically).

Diva, you probably have to hear the latest bullshit on Big Brother or any other fucking crap reality show.

I'm pleased I don't work in an office.

This is a clip from youtube, it's sadly a live version of the song called RABBIT.

It's too early for Chas and Dave, Pils. Come to think of it, it's always too early for Chas and Dave.

Yep! This is why I've always gotten along better with most men than women. :)
