Living on the Edge... of Boredom

I would love to take some time off and go somewhere. My job has been in a rut and with my boss mentioning her retirement every few days I know my time at my current position is limited. When she goes I doubt they'll replace her... which means I'll be out of a job. You can't be an assistant to someone who isn't there, although I'd love that comfy little position. Right now I'm still in the phase where I'm pretending it's not going to happen. I'm not quite ready to change to a new position again (new boss, new rules, lowest on the totem pole, etc...) and for the most part my job is decent. There are moments of pure chaos that make me want to scream, but at least I am able to vent my feelings openly. I doubt my next boss will be able to handle my over abundant sarcasm. JakeD and I are in this holding pattern until he graduates. Same jobs, same apartment, little plans. I wonder what the future has in store for us. Did I mention I'm turning 40 in three months? This is the beginning of a mid life crisis. I just know it. Oy...
