Very "unconventional" to kill bees to say the least. Where I come from, you only have to call the local fire brigade and they will come and take the whole thing away. For FREE :)

They could have called a bee keeper- all they'd have done is suit up, smoke them to keep them calm, & move the whole hive by getting the queen & moving her.
