I think you should ask your friend, and then go for it, if it's okay...But, if you really love the person and just have to do it, then I think you're friend should understand, especially if they're X's.

i wouldn't date my friend's ex without explicit expressed consent. if he even looked like he MIGHT not like it, it's off. i've had friends lose friends over that shit. it's mad sensitive.

I'd have to say no. The big reason is the grief you hear from your ex. "Did you like her before?" "Is she better than me?" "When did you start liking her?" And don't anyone tell me you don't owe your ex an explanation.. That doesn't matter. As far as they're concerned, you owe them everything. Just because you break up doesn't mean they're out of your life, trust me on that one. They're out when they decide to leave.

okay, okay....so i'm a newbie and no one knows who the heck i am. well, some of you do. anyhow, personally, it isn't something i would even think of doing. not only because of the tension it may cause between my friend and i ('cause you know women...just because they don't want the man anymore doesn't mean someone else can have him), but because he is my friend's EX. probably for a good reason. and i already know all of his shitty habits and whether or not he's worth getting nekkid with and all of that, so why even bother? there's plenty of men out there...just not where *i* live. so it's off to the nunnery i go. :p
