This young man was assaulted yesterday as he left a meeting of the Michigan College Republicans. Justin Zatkoff is the apparent victim of a hate crime, perpetrated almost without doubt by— well, we’ll let “a source close to Justin” explain:
Justin may have been 1. randomly attacked (but not robbed??), 2. attacked by BAMN (well known for violence andstrong in Ann Arbor), or 3. attacked by a homosexual rights group (Justin received an ‘odd/threatening’ email from a gay rights group about a day before the attack.)

Either gays or a black pro-Affirmative Action group? Please. Chances are, this kid just mouthed off and said something that someone didn’t like, and ended up reaping what he sowed. For one thing, it’s college. College students kick each other’s asses pretty frequently. Unless it’s UC Berkeley, then they just hold hands, drop acid, and play hacky-sack all day. Besides, people seem to forget how this “freedom of speech” thing works. Each of us is free to say whatever we want, whenever we want. Conversely, we’re free to get our asses kicked for saying whatever we want, whenever we want. And before anyone says “OMFG U WUDN’T BE SAYIGN THAT IF IT WUZ A LIBERAL!!”, let me say one thing.

Accountability is one of those things that’s equal all across the board. If I say something that pisses someone off enough to physically attack me, well, that’s what happens sometimes, and playing the victim card is kinda pointless. But when someone has a reputation for being an “in-your-face” political speaker, they shouldn’t be so surprised when someone feels like taking a shot at them, because SOME PEOPLE DON’T KNOW HOW TO RESPOND TO CHALLENGES WITH ANYTHING ELSE OTHER THAN VIOLENCE.
That being said, I don’t understand how all these tough-talking chickenhawks who are more than willing to send others to die for their beliefs would go so far as to blame left-leaning/minority groups for their assault other than wanting to portray liberal/left-leaning groups as mindless aggressors. …Which is actually pretty funny, considering that half of them spend endless amounts of time referring to those of us on this side of the table as limp-wristed surrender monkeys and pussies, and take every possible chance they can to play up the big bully/aggressor card. It’s also funny because then the big tough talker would be admitting that a gay guy gave him one helluva shiner, and let’s face it, straight guys…a fair segment of gay guys could probably kick your ass, since quite a few of them look like they practically live in the gym.
The point I’m trying to make is, people from all sides need to realize that just running around beating everyone up because they don’t agree with you isn’t going to solve a fucking thing. That’s what’s wrong with our country right now anyways….too much macho dick-swinging and not enough rationale mixed with a little bit of macho dick-swinging just to level the playing field.
So just to clarify: If you disagree with what someone says, call them on it. Debate them. But don't physically attack them. It's a dishonest, chickenshit approach that makes you look like an idiot and undermines your credibility. But if you spend a majority of your time doing things that piss people off, don't be surprised when someone wants to take to blows over it, because there's idiots out there who have no other method of dealing with things other than shameless aggression.
