*sigh*

(Feb. 25) -- Don Knotts, the skinny, lovable nerd who kept generations of television audiences laughing as bumbling Deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show," has died. He was 81.

Knotts died Friday night of pulmonary and respiratory complications at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, said Paul Ward, a spokesman for the cable network TV Land, which airs "The Andy Griffith Show," and another Knotts hit, "Three's Company."

Thanks for all the laughter. *smiles*

It seems he was in good company just before he died with Andy Griffith and his family there.

It's always sad when the good ones die.

Anyone else think its odd that Don Knotts, Darin McGavin, and now Dennis Weaver all died around the same time and all their names began with D?

my parents came to visit Sunday and we were talking about Don and Darin, and my dad says things like these always happen in 3's, and wouldnt it be creepy if the 3rd person to go had a name that began with D.....dun dun dun

Dennis Weaver, saw the blurb this morning, only know him from that Duel movie, and I called my dad right when I saw it and we're both creeped out now

but still, it's sad

I remember Don Knotts in the old Disney movies when I was a kid. Can't remember the title right off hand, but he was in one where he played a professor that turned into a fish. That's the one that sticks out in my mind. And Mr. Furley the ladies man.

Dennis Weaver also played on 'Gunsmoke' and 'McCloud.'

Ahhh.... Dennis Weaver. McCloud. He was AWESOME!!! I don't think there's an episode I haven't seen at least twice!

And Don Knotts- while I never really liked his characters (whiny men don't thrill me...) he was an AWESOME person when you could catch him on talk shows.
