So, I have just recently begun making use of Thunderbird's built-in RSS abilities. I've been seeing RSS stuff all over the web forever, but I always thought, "Meh. That's too much techie shit for me to even try to understand or work with, so... no."

Well, I bit the bullet and added some RSS feeds, so now all my blogs I read and my news stuff and even Flickr pics are all right there in my email program. WOO!

Now, here's my question. What online news source do y'all prefer?

news.com.com (C|Net news) , Wired News, BBC , Ars Technica, that sort of stuff

I must say, I've never liked news portals or RSS feeds. If I want to read salon, I'll go there - I don't want to read a precis or a mutilated first paragraph.

At the moment, I don't really have a favourite: salon is starting to be dominated by its entertainment section, the Guardian is good but a bit worthy at times, and the BBC is too bland. I also prefer the offline New Statesman to the online NS - it's less prissy.
